The Miami Jazz Cooperative presents Jazz at Jackson,
free lunchtime concerts in Alamo Park in the heart of
Miami's Health District.
Jazz at Jackson builds on the Miami Jazz Cooperative’s five-year
success of its lunchtime Jazz in the Gables concert series and brings
it to the tens of thousands healthcare workers, patients, and patient
families who work and visit every day in the Miami Health District.
The primary goal of the concert series is to give the healthcare
community a brief respite from the daily stress of their lives and,
through this experience, broaden the audience for jazz, the only
original American art form.
Jazz at Jackson is made possible with the support from the
Jackson Health System.
Alamo Park is on the campus of Jackson Memorial
Hospital at 1151 NW 16th Street, Miami, FL 33136. MAP
Jazz at Jackson concerts begin Thursday, November 1, 2018, and

The New World School of the Arts Jazz Orchestra under the direction of Jim Gasior is nationally recognized as one of the elite high school jazz bands. Six times this band has finished in the top three in Wynton Marsalis's Essentially Ellington Competition and twice it has won the entire competition. On November 5, the MJC is bringing the NWSA Jazz Orchestra to the Open Stage Club with special guest John Fedchock.
A talented bop-based trombonist, John Fedchock is also quite notable as a big band arranger. Fedchock graduated from Ohio State U and the Eastman School Of Music. In the '80's he spent seven years playing and touring with Woody Herman's Orchestra and, although he had chances to solo, it was his swinging charts that gained him the most attention. In addition, Fedchock toured with Gerry Mulligan's Concert Jazz Band, Louie Bellson's Big Band and Bob Belden's Ensemble, among others.
