I am offering my Files of TRAD
jazz music (102 Tunes) FREE to anyone that might like them. I now have them
stored in the Cloud. Just send me an E mail (JLSKILL@aol.com)
requesting them, and I'll send you a link to the Music and you can download all
the tunes or just the ones you might like. T I do this to promote more live
music and to spread the Traditional Jazz word!
For
every tune.... I provide PDF
files and Finale Files for 6 instruments. I
provide the
melody part and 2 harmony parts for -- Clarinet,
Cornet/Trumpet, Trombone, Alto Sax, Tenor Sax . Plus included.... is
the melody part for Bari Sax and of course, the LEAD SHEET for
the tune, to be used by Piano, Guitar, Banjo, Bass, Tuba, etc. At the End
of this E mail is the table of contents. These are TRAD tunes, swing and
just great music, you can play in any style you want.
You
can share them with anyone you want, I just ask you to drop me an E mail if you
give the entire collection to someone, letting me know who got them.... and
please give me credit sometimes when you play them! There is about 500 hours of
work in preparing these and I have probably another 100 Tunes completed, but
not up-loaded to the Cloud yet.
So what good is all
this music you ask ??? ......Well ... suppose you are a TRAD Jazz musician ....... who
is not getting to play as much as you would like. I have found you can get
together any musician friends near where you live, and using these
charts, have a pretty decent Band!! It is not necessary everyone be able to
play by ear or improvise, they just need to be able to read some fairly simple
music. You can do most of the solos and improvising .... making it
JAZZ. I have found those legitimate musicians who join you... who
can read .... but have never played by ear ... some of them will start doing
it! Note... any instrument can play the Melody (Lead) and you can have most any
mix of other instruments in your band playing the other harmony parts, using
these charts.
I use the
charts just to get good harmony with my bands. It is very hard to get
nice 3 part-harmony in your front line, unless you play together
ALOT. .... but using my charts, your band can do it the first time they play
it!. I use the charts just as a basis for the tune...... and we still do lots
of improvising and playing off each other... etc... but overall, if your band
can read music just a little these simple charts will really make the song
sound good! Sometimes we just read the music the first time thru the tune, and
then again on the out-chorus.
If you want to
change the Key of any tune, or make a part for some other instrument, (that I
did not provide) that can be done quite easily using the FINALE Files I
provide. You need not purchase FINALE ($600) but rather purchase the much less
expensive "PrintMusic" product for $119. (Use Google Search for
"PrintMusic", and you will find where to purchase it) . Then
... using the Finale files I provide, you can change the chords, change
the notes, put the tune in another Key....etc.
That's why I
went to the trouble of providing the Finale files.... it seems most of us want
to change the arrangement in some way, from the way the other guy hears
it! Also .... If you have the "Print Music" program, you
can playback the Tune's SCORE (which I provide) and you can hear how the tune
goes with all the 3 parts and chords played for you on your computer.
