Callé’s fiery tenor sax has been heard with Gloria Estefan from the earliest days of the Miami Sound Machine. A gifted and versatile musician, Callé performs in many musical genders including rock, jazz and pop. Even before he left the University of Miami, Callé had already hooked up with Gloria Estefan and the Miami Sound Machine, and also with Julio Iglesias. "After college, I went on tour with Bob James, Julio, and Gloria all at the same time." He has performed on over 1,200 albums and 8,500 singles, including Grammy-award-winning recordings by Arturo Sandoval, Vicky Carr and pop singer Jon Secada. He has also been heard with Julio Iglesias, Vanessa Williams, Bob James, Frank Sinatra and many others, as well as on television and in motion picture soundtracks.

Among his many awards, Callé is a five-time Grammy nominated artist and garnered the 2015 Latin Grammy Award for Best Instrumental Album for “Mamblu” his recent CD which features over 100 south Florida musicians. He is also a member of the local Afro-Cuban funk band Palo!

In addition to his performing activities, Dr. Callé is a tenured full professor of Music Business and Production at Miami Dade College where he has taught since 2001. He was awarded the 2015 Selected Best Professor Miami Dade College, 2014 United Teachers of Dade Champion of Education in Entertainment and the Arts and was the 2013 King of Carnival Miami. A self-proclaimed math enthusiast, Callé is studying for a master’s degree in mathematics, which is one of his passions. “Math is for me what music is for other people,” he says. “I go home and I read books on physics and string theory.”
