IRAKERE 40
The most influential figure in modern Afro-Cuban jazz.
The Afro-Cuban jazz giant will perform a tribute to
his historic group Irakere in celebration of the
40th anniversary with what he describes as
“21st Century perspective.”
This current Irakere revival, which debuted at the
2014 Barcelona Jazz Festival and has toured in
Europe, features a 10-piece band of musicians
who grew up listening to Irakere classics like
“Bacalao con Pan.” This show in Miami is one of
nineteen on the current US tour.
