The Miles Bozeman Quartet delivers a dynamic blend of classic and contemporary jazz, led by drummer and composer Miles Bozeman. Known for their tight interplay, rich harmonies, and rhythm-driven energy, the group brings a fresh perspective to the modern jazz landscape while honoring its roots.
The Darryl Tookes & Brian Hall Jazz Duo from Tallahassee pairs world-class vocals and piano artistry with masterful upright bass. With deep roots in jazz, soul, and gospel, their performances offer an intimate, expressive experience that blends timeless standards with inspired original compositions.
The Chris Seepersaud Trio, led by guitarist and educator Chris "Seep" Seepersaud, offers a distinctive fusion of jazz, improvisation, and global musical influences. Drawing from Seepersaud's diverse background—which includes mentorship from Grammy-nominated artists and training in jazz, classical, gospel, and Indian musical traditions—the trio delivers performances that are both technically refined and creatively expressive. Their sound reflects a commitment to musical exploration and a deep appreciation for the art of live performance.
Therese Whichello is a vocalist and educator based in Tallahassee, Florida, known for her engaging performances and dedication to music instruction. She leads the Therese Whichello Trio, which presents themed concerts such as "Jazz Time Machine," offering audiences a journey through jazz classics from the 1930s.
The Bill Peterson Trio, led by pianist and composer Bill Peterson, is set to perform at the Blue Tavern Jazz Weekend in Tallahassee on Friday, April 18, 2025, at 7:00 PM. Peterson, a Professor of Jazz Studies and Music Theory/Composition at Florida State University, brings a wealth of experience to the trio, having performed at notable venues such as the Monterey Jazz Festival and the Blue Note Jazz Club in New York City. His trio is known for delivering performances that blend traditional jazz elements with innovative improvisation.
The Jeff Crompton Trio, based in Atlanta, is led by saxophonist and composer Jeff Crompton. Known for their distinctive blend of avant-garde jazz and Southern musical influences, the trio delivers performances that are both innovative and rooted in tradition.
Steve Sternberg is a seasoned pianist and multi-instrumentalist based in Tallahassee, Florida. With a career spanning nearly five decades, he has developed a distinctive style that encompasses boogie-woogie, stride, ragtime, and contemporary jazz. Sternberg's performances are noted for their energy and depth, reflecting his extensive experience and dedication to American musical traditions.
Indiosiris is a Tallahassee-based ensemble that blends jazz with elements of funk and fusion, creating a sound that is both innovative and rooted in tradition. Their performances are characterized by dynamic improvisation and a cohesive interplay among band members. Members include Dré Antoine of Los Angeles, Santiago Cristancho of Columbia, Chocolaté Acosta from Brazil, Rodrigo Suarez of Peru, Madiac and Daniel Harper of Atlanta.
Jus' Funk Fusion, led by Professional Bassist/International Recording Artist/Producer Justin Varnes—also known as Jus'—is an Tallahassee-based ensemble that blends jazz fusion with funk rhythms. Varnes, originally from Chicago, has developed a sound and musical approach have been heavily influenced by the city’s rich jazz heritage The group (Ari Periera on guitar, Harrison Rook on Sax, Elijah Davis on piano, and John Gonzalez on drums) is known for its dynamic performances that showcase a fusion of intricate jazz melodies and groove-oriented funk.
