The Tampa Jazz Club is proud to present the world-renowned vibraphonist and drummer CHUCK REDD, with LA LUCHA, on February 2, 2025 at 3p, at HCC/Ybor City’s Mainstage Theatre. For more than a decade, these Sunday concerts have been part of the HCC Visual & Performing Arts Series.
Chuck Redd emerged on the jazz scene at 21 as drummer for guitarist Charlie Byrd. He’s toured and recorded with artists including Dizzy Gillespie, Mel Torme, Dick Hyman, and Barney Kessel, and was featured for 15 years with the Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra. Currently Chuck is Music Director for the Oregon Festival of American Music, and is in constant demand at top jazz clubs and festivals.
This concert will be a reunion with the Bay Area trio La Lucha -- John O’Leary, Alejandro Arenas, and Mark Feinman. Their chemistry together is apparent in live performances, as well as Chuck’s guest appearance on their 2020 Arbors cd ‘Everybody Wants To Rule The World,’ produced by Ken Peplowski.
