Christmas in the Dog House is the perfect addition to your holiday album collection. Brought to you by Night is Alive and Big City Recording Studios, this selection of nostalgic tunes stars the Bill Cunliffe trio, comprised of Grammy Award-winning bandleader Bill Cunliffe, piano; Dave Robaire, bass; and Marvin “Smitty” Smith, drums. Also featured on select tunes is tenor saxophonist Ralph Moore, who boasts distinguished collaborations with musicians like Dizzy Gillespie, Horace Silver, and Freddy Hubbard, among others.

Known for his inventiveness in melding jazz with classical and pop genres, Bill Cunliffe received a Grammy for Best Instrumental Arrangement for his “West Side Story Medley,” on the album “Resonance Big Band Plays Tribute to Oscar Peterson” (Resonance, 2009). He is a professor of music at Cal State Fullerton and also teaches at the Vail Jazz Workshop and the Skidmore Jazz Institute.

Ralph Moore spent fifteen years playing tenor saxophone in the The Tonight Show Orchestra with Jay Leno. During that time, he collaborated with notable musicians, jazz quartets and quintets. Moore has released several albums for the Landmark (now 32 Jazz), Criss Cross, Concord, Reservoir and Savoy labels. He can also be heard playing sideman on many other great jazz albums.

Representing the most memorable performances in jazz, Night is Alive’s mission is to bring today’s best musicians to venues and fans everywhere. For more information about Bill Cunliffe, Ralph Moore, and the world-class musicians associated with Night is Alive, visit http://www.nightisalive.com/

Night is Alive was created to please the musicians, the venues,
and the fans of jazz. I genuinely want this great music to get out
to more people. If I didn’t believe in this, I wouldn’t still be doing it
― plain and simple.”
