FIVE PLAY was formed in 1999. The quintet is comprised of
the big band's rhythm section and two of its foremost soloists.
FIVE PLAY is rooted in the jazz tradition and is fueled and inspired
by the members’ collective, creative vision to swing through the
21st Century. The quintet’s repertoire is comprised of innovative
arrangements of classic and contemporary standards, as well as
original music composed and arranged by band members who
create a unique, fresh, exciting and powerful ensemble sound.

six Juno Award (Canadian Grammy) nominations, the “Jazz Album
of the Year” award and several CDN Smooth Jazz Awards.

Award-winning jazz artist Tamir Hendelman is the pianist for the
Jeff Hamilton Trio. He also performs with the Clayton-Hamilton
Jazz Orchestra, Harry Allen, Teddy Edwards, Warren Vache,
Houston Person, Jeff Clayton, Nick Brignola, Phil Upchurch,
Rickey Woodard, John Clayton and Barbara Morrison. Tamir
also leads his own trio which includes Alex Frank (Bass)
and Dean Koba (Drums).

The 2018-19 series includes jazz for all tastes featuring a host of talented jazz artists. All concerts will be presented at the Amaturo Theater at the Broward Center. The Gold Coast Jazz Society is a not-for-profit organization that is dedicated to the preservation and promotion of jazz music through a mainstage concert series, free community concerts, educational programs, a jazz scholarship program and musical services provided by the Gold Coast Jazz Society Band.
Single tickets for each concert are available at the Broward Center’s AutoNation Box Office at 954-462-0222 or online at www.browardcenter.org. Student and teacher tickets are $10 with valid ID for most concerts.
Funding for this organization is provided in part by the Broward County Board of County Commissioners as recommended by the Broward Cultural Council, the State of Florida, Department of State, Division of Cultural Affairs and the Florida Council on Arts and Culture and is supported by Funding Arts Broward, supporting innovative local visual and performing arts in Broward County.
