A NOTE FROM BELMONT & JONES:
You might have heard the news. If not, here it is: Walker,
our Prize Hog harp player and boon companion, died last week after a brief but
furious battle with cancer.
No doubt he's having fun blowing harp for Elmore and Sleepy
John et al, but we are bereaved. Here are a couple of events next weekend that
will honor Walker's memory and help make this time easier for those he left
behind:
1. The Cross Creek animal clinic, where Walker worked for
many years, is having a memorial & benefit to raise money to cover those
hospital bills which will probably outlive us all. The benefit is on Saturday,
Dec. 20, at 12-3 ... Belmont & Jones (and possibly some others) will play
about 1pm. The address is 2728
Apalachee Pkwy, Tallahassee, FL 32301.
2.
Friends and family, including anyone and everyone who inhabited any of Walker's
musical or social spheres, are invited to a memorial gathering at Mary Lynn
Petroski's house, 4717 Buttercup Way, on Sunday, Dec. 21, from 3-6 pm. If you'd
like to join, please bring a dish to share (Whataburger items are totally
acceptable) and your best memories of Walker.
There's gonna be an empty
chair on stage tonight.
Walker will be missed by all who knew him. Our memories seem to educate ourselves through our Past of what was Important there...The story of life is quicker then the blink of an eye, the story of love is hello, goodbye. Jimi Hendrix Until we met again, Bill Alphin
