The event is sponsored in part by Auto Nation, Synergy Service Solutions, Transworld Business Advisors, LLC, Hammonds Bakery and many supporters from the community, will feature the DCA Jazz Big Band.  You will step back in time, as the atmosphere of the Savoy is recreated with Big Band Concert and a Swing Dancing demonstration.  The evening promises to astound all those in attendance; as you listen to the mastery of the young aspiring musicians, it will become ever more apparent why they won first place in these competitions.  Come join us for the sights and sounds of real jazz.

Last month, the DCA Jazz Ensemble was one of twelve high school bands selected to participate in the Swing Central High School Jazz Competition in Savannah, GA – March 28 – 30, 2012. This is their 5th consecutive year in participation. 

Essentially Ellington is a national competition and is part of the Jazz at Lincoln Center program headed by musical director Wynton Marsalis. This year, DCA Jazz finished in 1st place at the prestigious competition considered to be the Super Bowl of high school jazz competitions and featured Dillard performing at New York's famed Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center with Marsalis.  This promises to be a great evening of music and dancing. 

This is a call to South Florida to help these students reach their fullest potential with ticket proceeds benefiting the Jazz Education music programs at Dillard Center for the Arts.  Be proud and part of their accomplishments. Let’s swing together to the wonderful sound of jazz.
