The Faena Theater closes its 7th Annual Jazz Series on Wednesday, June 18, 2025 with a performance by soul jazz super-group SOMETHING ELSE! featuring VINCENT HERRING.
Inspired by the legendary album by Cannonball Adderley, Miles Davis, and Art Blakey, Something Else! is the brainchild of Vincent Herring, one of today’s premier alto saxophonists. Herring has invited some of today’s greatest jazz players to form a superb sextet that matches impeccable virtuosity with a bottomless feel for the music.
‘Soul jazz’ infuses the muscular hard bop of the 1950s and early 1960s with funky, window-rattling grooves of contemporary soul and R&B. The band plays new and modern arrangements of classics by masters like Horace Silver, Les McCann, Freddie Hubbard, and Eddie Harris, alongside original works in the same style.
The lineup features: Vincent Herring (alto sax), Jeremy Pelt (trumpet), Wayne Escoffery (tenor sax), Paul Bollenback (guitar), David Kikoski (piano), Essiet Essiet (bass), and Jerome Gillespie (drums).
