The next USF Online Jazz Concert, this Friday, March 5, on You Tube, pays tribute to the decades-long tradition of All Night Jazz on WUSF, 89.7, Tampa's NPR Station. This webcast series is produced by the USF School of Music and the Tampa Jazz Club, temporarily replacing -- due to the pandemic -- the venerable Monday Night Jazz Series at USF.
WUSF 89.7 is known nationally in the jazz world for presenting the music every night, a tradition since the 1970s. This concert will feature three of the station's current announcers, who are also active in the Bay Area jazz scene: guitarist DOMINIC WALKER, trumpeter JACKSON HARPE, and pianist/composer SIMON LASKY. They'll be joined by performers from the USF School of Music: saxophonist JACK WILKINS, trombonist TOM BRANTLEY, bassist NOEL REYES, and drummer DAVE RUDOLPH.
Inspired by the station's programming, Friday's concert will feature pieces used as program themes in years past, by John Coltrane and Wes Montgomery; current 'Midnight Standards' in the station's format, such as "Caravan" and "Round Midnight," and many more favorites. WUSF Jazz Director Mike Cornette will appear, along with his predecessor and Tampa Jazz Club president Bob Seymour, and Monday Night Jazz concert photos by WUSF's Steve Splane will be shown prior to the concert.

The next USF Online Jazz Concert will feature USF Guest Faculty Artist, composer/saxophonist -- and Grammy nominee -- REMY LE BOEUF with the USF JAZZ ENSEMBLE I, on April 6, again sponsored by the USF School of Music and the Tampa Jazz Club.
