A NEW GENERATION OF JAZZ:
La Lucha & Featured Guest Artists

The “Best of the Bay” trio, LA LUCHA, will be joined by
special guests for “A New Generation of Jazz,” at the next Tampa Jazz
Club concert, in the Mainstage Theatre at HCC/Ybor City, at 3pm on
Sunday, Feb 17. Performing originals from their new album, Pa’
Lante, along with the mixture of jazz standards and
reimagined pop songs the band is known for, La Lucha will also
welcome four of the most exciting players emerging on the jazz scene
in Tampa Bay: from USF, saxophonist CATHY LOPEZ and keyboardist ADOLFO
MENDONÇA, along with top high school musicians, drummer MEGHAN
LOCK and saxophonist DYLAN McHANN. These Sunday afternoon concerts at
The Mainstage are part of HCC Visual & Performing Arts Series.
LA LUCHA consists of three best friends from different parts
of the world -- Colombia, Mexico, and the U.S. -- who have come
together in the Bay Area. Their stylistic variety, compelling
virtuosity, and engaging and energetic stage presence have built a
loyal following among listeners. Among their many honors was the
"Best of the Bay Jazz Ensemble" from Creative Loafing
for 2013, 2014, and 2015.
"We love having La Lucha back to play the new CD, and
lots of their old favorites," said Tampa Jazz Club
president Bob Seymour. "And to have these four great young players
on the same concert is such a rare treat, a chance to hear the
current and future sound of jazz in our city."
