6/17/18 UPDATE
"The roof (except for the metal sheets) is up, AC/heat should be installed Monday, electricians will rewire and we should have all proposals in for the sound system next week. Still to come: removing the rest of the tree, fixing the roads, improving the floors. Probably another three weeks to get ready to move back in. The benefit (at The Moon) will aid in getting it done right and quickly."

6/10/18 UPDATE
"Again, many thanks for your support of the club in our time of need. Here is an update on where we are:
Hard to believe but our funding situation is excellent. GoFundMe is over $27,000 (exceeded the goal). Others have contributed outside of the campaign.
The Moon is holding a big benefit for us on Saturday, July 7, 2018 with Revival, The Frank Jones Band, Brett Wellman & Stone Cold Blues Band and Johnnie Marshall performing. Rick Lollar will also be sitting in throughout the night.
If you get hungry from all the dancing, Ms. Ernestine will even be frying up her fried catfish, mullet, fries and sausage dogs, too! A silent auction is in the works. We'll have a press release on that soon.
The response has been so overwhelming that we declined offers to hold benefits from The Junction, Northside Stage, All Saints Culture Club, The Edison, Goodwood, and Skippers Smokehouse in Tampa. Says a whole lot about our local venues.
Most of the debris has been cleaned up thanks to platoons of volunteers (with Subway via Mike Lanigan and Blu Halo providing food; customers providing deserts and adult beverages we can't sell at the club). Repair materials for the roof are on site with major repairs starting this week if the weather and Murphy's Law permit.
We are not going to change anything about the building or interior--it wouldn't be fittin'! However, we plan to add central air and heat (but leave up the oldest and dirtiest AC's for ambiance); upgrade to a digital sound system with upgraded speakers throughout; paint and clean the bathrooms; clean, fix and stain the floors; repair Ms. Ernestine's fry shack and fix the roads. We'll break a case of beer, smoke a box of cigars and scratch up the walls to keep the juke joint fragrance and appearance.
We've rejected suggestions to expand, to leave the roof trusses open, enlarge the stage, add stained glass windows, ferns, brass, TV's, and tear down the club, disassemble the Warehouse and reassemble it at the club. Hey, it's a juke!
Unfortunately, the remaining part of the big oak must come down; we have met with John Birch about sculpture possibilities with the trunk or some of the tree remnants.
We hope to reopen sometime in July. We'll give you timely updates. We post pics and updates on our Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/bradfordvillebluesclub
BTW: Joe Rondone with the Tallahassee Democrat was a real trooper. After taking pics on the day it happened, he put down his camera and pitched in with salvaging the portraits on the walls. Hell of a good guy and an extraordinary photographer to boot. The front page picture of the women's softball team celebrating at home plate at the Super Regionals is one for the ages. Joe is just one of many stories of people showing unselfish kindness to help us.
Kim and I can't say enough about the response from and support of the Tallahassee community---from individuals to businesses, to volunteers, and to the local and national music and blues communities.
We are excited and re-energized!"

6/8/18 UPDATE:
"Friday night and nuttin' to do!
Roof goes up next week. Electric the week after, followed by central air/heat and new sound system. Missin' the bonfire and Ms. Ernestine's fish but enjoying the extra sleep. Wishin' I had a Blue Ale and a stogie."

6/7/18 UPDATE:
"We are having a work and cleanup party Saturday June 9, 2018 at 1pm. We're getting the club ready for the repair work and could use around 8 friendly faces. We'll provide refreshments and lunch. Later in the next week or so we can use some hardy folks handy with a hammer and saws. Things are coming together and we'll keep you posted as work progresses. Many, many thanks to all who are making this happen!"
Kim & Gary
6/4/18 UPDATE:
"Progress is good! With the funding goal reached, repairs to the roof should begin this week. We need to replace the sound system and may add central air and heat. After post construction cleaning and painting, we hope to reopen by the end of June or early July. Much depends on weather, permitting and contractor availability. We'll provide regular updates and grand reopening information. Thanks again to everyone who has made this happen!"

6/2/18 UPDATE
"We've made significant progress in cleaning up the damage--mostly to the roof. Contractors are ready to start the work when we raise the money. We have $21K of the $25K GoFundMe goal. https://www.gofundme.com/big-bend-blues-society-bbc-fund We need to reach the goal before we can get the money. Most of the work can be completed within three weeks. Hopefully we can re-open by the end of June."

"We only need to replace part of the roof and some electrical. Structurally we are OK. PA got drenched but that is insured. The owners didn't have insurance on the building. Some contractors are working pro bono, reduced prices on or free materials, GoFundMe almost at $20K in 2 days, many benefits planned, dozens of volunteers working on clean-up We can't believe the outpouring of support from all over. It really is overwhelming. Kim and I are truly humbled. Didn't know the club had touched so many people.
Life is good, Charlie. We are blessed by so many friends.
Gary"
5/31/18, 8pm UPDATE
"BBC work and cleanup party Friday afternoon! Come one, come all anytime Friday afternoon to help with light clean-up (chairs, tables, trash) or bring a chainsaw to help make firewood of the old oak. Volunteers from The Blu Halo Restaurant will be there to help and The Blu Halo will provide food for all helpers! We'll have a bonfire that evening if'n you want to have a little R&R and camaraderie afterward. See you there!
Gary"
"BBC Update--The Tree is Gone! It's gone away for firewood. Many many thanks to Fielder Landscaping in Tallahassee for helping us out! The outpouring of support is mind-boggling! From our customers/irregulars, to the community, to the blues family, contractors, volunteers and more volunteers. What once was a jumbled mess on the roof with devastation inside, is now taking shape. The artwork and tables came away unscathed for the most part and are now in safe keeping. The inside is clean except for the rafters hanging around. The standing water and the wet carpeting around the stage is gone. The plaster, insulation and debris have been cleaned. The GoFundMe page (https://www.gofundme.com/big-bend-blues-society-bbc-fund) is over $10K in one day. Bands, venues and agents have offered to hold benefits. Too much to absorb in such a short time. There is no insurance to cover the damage to the building but we are hopeful that the generosity of so many will allow us to reopen in the near future. Still a long jam away but we will reopen with the help of the blues gods. We'll keep you posted. Much love from the BBC!

"The BBC suffered extensive damage when and oak tree fell on the club today. Unfortunately, we must cancel all upcoming shows for the foreseeable future. At least we'll have plenty of firewood for the winter!
