Community Arts Program Summer Concert Series Opens this Thursday in Coral Gables w/ Melissa Aldana

Community Arts Program Summer Concert Series 

The award-winning Community Arts Program (CAP) 2017 Summer Concert Series (32nd season) opens 8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 8 with the first female instrumentalist and the first South American ever to win the prestigious Thelonious Monk Competition, tenor saxophonist Melissa Aldana. Melissa is also a recipient of the Martin E. Segal Award from Jazz at Lincoln Center and a two-time recipient of the Altazor Award, Chile’s highly prestigious national arts prize. With her Quartet—Aldana, saxophone; Sam Harris, piano; Pablo Menares, bass; and Craig Weinrib, drums—and a program that includes the music of jazz sax legends, Melissa is sure to kick off the CAP 2017 Summer Concert Series with a roar! The evening will open with the CAP Miami Jazz Institute ALL-STAR Jazz Ensemble! Tickets are $35-$50 in advance at 305.448.7421, ext. 153 or www.CommunityArtsProgram.org.

General Admission Ticket:  $35 advance, $40 at the door (based on availability).  
Individual Patron Ticket: $50 advance; $55 at the door (based on availability). Individual Patron ticket includes reserved, general seating within rows 1 through 9 and pre-concert receptions: a wine and non-alcohol beverage bar and light hors d’oeuvres.
Patron Series: $270 (All SIX Concerts) Patron Series includes reserved, general seating within rows 1 through 9 and pre-concert receptions: a wine and non-alcohol beverage bar and light hors d’oeuvres.
Patron Mini-Series: $190 (Your choice of FOUR concerts) Choose four concerts. Patron Mini-Series includes reserved, general seating within rows 1 through 9 and pre-concert receptions: a wine and non-alcohol beverage bar and light hors d’oeuvres.

One can also inquire about Young Musicians’ Summer Master Classes, to be given by the following artists on the Friday morning (10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.) following their concert: Amit Peled, Chris Thomas King, Tony Monaco, and the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet (LAGQ).
