judged in the areas of blues content, vocals, instrumental skills, originality,
and stage presence. Registration fee for the September 4th
event for Band Category is $25 and $20 for Solo/Duo Category. All registration and
admission fees will be donated to the winners at the end of the evening to
defray costs of traveling to Memphis. To

IBC has evolved into the nation’s biggest and most respected showcase for Blues musicians ready to take their act to the national stage. The IBC is a judged “Battle of the Bands” in which competitors take the stage and play a short set for a panel of judges. The acts are judged based on an established set of criteria.
The International Blues Challenge represents an international search by The Blues Foundation and its Affiliated Organizations (mostly blues societies) for the Blues Band and Solo/Duo Blues Act ready to perform on a national stage, but just need that extra break. Each Affiliate of The Blues Foundation has the right to send one band and solo/duo act to represent the organization at the IBC Semi-Finals on Beale Street in Memphis, TN.
Affiliates are required to stage a regional preliminary IBC competition, with the winner of that competition representing the organization in the Memphis international competition. As an affiliate of the Blues Foundation, NCFBS has sent representatives of the North Central Florida region every year since 2008.
Competitors will be judged in the areas of blues content, vocals, instrumental skills, originality, and stage presence. Registration is $25 for band and $20 for solo/duo category. Admission is $5. Start time will be determined by number of participants. The Dirty Bar is located in the Thornebrook Shopping Village, 2441 NW 43rd St., Gainesville, Florida.
