11th Annual New Smyrna Beach Jazz Festival in Florida Announced for September

The 11th Annual New Smyrna Beach Jazz Festival, an intimate indoor event, takes place September 23-25, 2011. All events take place either on or nearby beachside in New Smyrna Beach on Florida's northeast coastline, just south of Daytona Beach.

The Marc Monteson Quartet and Thom Chambers. Ticket includes food buffet and one free drink (beer, wine or house cocktail). This is the only event that requires a ticket.  The admission is free for all other events.

From 11am – 11pm at eleven different Flagler Avenue locations (Note: The monthly Art Walk on Flagler Avenue
coincides from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.).  

Performers include: The Harold Blanchard Tribute show with Chuck Archard, Ron Cangro, Suzy Park and special guest Per Danielsson, Kayonne Riley & The Downtown Trio, Sybil Gage, Robert Harris Band, Jacqueline Jones, Kelly/Scott Quartet, Kenny MacKenzie Trio, Armand Membardis, Bobby Mercer Quartet with Michelle Mailhot of Toxic Audio, Orlando Sanchez, The Orlando Bones – T-O-B (4 bones and Rhythm), Thomas Jones plus more acts to be announced.

The Jazz Festival is partnering with Atlantic Center for the Arts on Community Day from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at The Harris House, 214 S. Riverside Dr. in the Downtown Historic District. The William Perry Duo will perform from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. on the front porch.

Sunday, September 25, 2011
From 11 a.m. - 9 p.m., at least five events at various Flagler Avenue locations, musicians to be announced soon. The final event, at the Garlic Restaurant (556 E. Third Ave.) features the Kelly/Scott Quartet from Jacksonville by way of the Savannah Jazz Festival.

The Festival poster, created by Everett Spruill of Orlando is titled “Rhythm of Life”, illustrates what the festival is all about, a jazz band performing at an intimate indoor event.  They will be available for purchase soon at The Wicker Basket (401 Flagler Ave.)  An information poster, $7, is suitable for framing ($10 if signed by the artist & musicians).  Outlets for T-Shirt sales will be announced soon.

This year’s Festival is dedicated to the memory of Harold Blanchard, New Smyrna’s “Ambassador of Jazz “ who passed away last December and performed at the festival every year.
