Martha Redbone is one of the most vital voices in American roots music. A multiple award-winning musician, the charismatic songstress is celebrated for her tasty gumbo of roots music embodying the folk and mountain blues sounds of her childhood in the Appalachian hills of Kentucky, mixed with the eclectic grit of her teenage years in pre-gentrified Brooklyn.  With her gospel-singing father’s voice and the spirit of her Cherokee/Choctaw mother’s heritage, Redbone broadens the boundaries of American roots music with songs and storytelling that share her life experience as a Black and Native American woman and mother navigating in the new millennium.

Martha Redbone Roots Project quartet’s Moss Center’s performance is titled “Roots & Rhythms”.  Audiences can anticipate songs and storytelling sharing Redbone’s unique mix of folk, blues, gospel, and soul music. Her music will take you to church on the mountaintop and bring you back home with a song in your heart.

Martha Redbone Roots Project Quartet consists of:
Martha Redbone – Lead vocals, percussion
Aaron Whitby – Piano
Charlie Burnham – Violin
Fred Cash Jr. – Bass
