short, sweet and pleasing... Al CAN be a man of few words....

Submitted by Al Kanovsky 3/2/13

Friday was decision day---lots going on in south Florida's Broward and Miami/Dade counties. Good JAZZ and BLUES at venues far and wide. My friends Deborah and Duane Crisp called to say that they were going to listen to Lourdes Valentin at the Miami Shores Country Club. The Club is a pleasant venue with a decent menu, a bar that never ends and servers who do just that. Lourdes was appearing with Brian Murphy(keys) and Shea Eichen on drums. Lourdes is a budding JAZZ vocalist and is slowly perfecting her art. She is also a talented guitarist. Her repertoire is mainly American Songbook and Broadway show tunes. She loves the Olden Days. 30's/40's songs are well represented in her program. Lourdes did "God Bless the Child" which is a Billie Holiday composition but Lourdes made it all her own. We sat at the bar which is as well stocked as any I've ever been in. I don't think there is a brand that is not on the shelves. My bartender, Pavel, kept my whistle wet with his attentive service. I had a very pleasant evening with good friends and music. Note: Brian's Dad is having some health problems. Please include him in your prayers.
