Mike Desselle, a.k.a. “Molten Mike,” brings blues to Evening at the Murray .
Enjoy songs from his first albums, which featured electric guitar-based
blues/jazz/rock fusion, his vintage 1928 and 1932 National steel guitars, and
his Taylor acoustic. And no night with Mike is complete without experiencing a
little bluegrass and country. Beginning guitar at age six, he has played some of
the top music clubs in Florida , Nashville , Ohio , and in Australia in Sydney ,
the real deal and we hope you’ll think so too.

Best-known as a writer, director, actor and producer of films, Woody Allen has
another passion. He and his band have been delighting audiences with a hot
mix of New Orleans-inspired music for more than thirty-five years. Firmly
rooted in the music Allen has loved since childhood, the band draws inspiration
from legends such as Sidney Bechet, George Lewis, Johnny Dodds, Jimmie
Noone and Louis Armstrong. Their repertoire includes an eclectic mix of
popular tunes, hymns, spirituals, marches, blues and rags. Discover a new
side of Woody Allen!

Unquestionably the most formidable husband and wife team in the history of
southern rock and blues music, Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi return to
Ruth Eckerd Hall for the 1st time since their sold out show last year!
Trucks has led his own band for more than 15 years, he's also been the slide guitarist for the Allman Brothers Band. Eric Clapton says “Derek’s guitar playing
is stunning, unlike anything I’d ever heard before.” Derek was also on the cover
of the 2007 Rolling Stone New Guitar Gods issue. Derek is currently a member
of the Allman Brothers Band.
Tedeschi has risen to fame with multiple Grammy Award nominations. Her
powerful singing voice and fearless stage presence have made her one of the
most stirring soul and blues musicians of our time. Add her knack for musical truth telling and her commanding guitar playing, and you have an artist who is
quickly taking her place as the new generation’s greatest female blues
guitar/singer and, perhaps, one of the best ever.

Since the 1950's, there has been only one King of the Blues - Riley B. King,
affectionately known as B.B. King. Since B.B. started recording in the late
1940's, he has released more than 60 albums many of them considered blues
classics, like 1965's definitive live blues album "Live At The Regal", and 1976's
collaboration with Bobby "Blue" Bland, "Together For The First Time".
Over the years, B.B. has had two #1 R & B hits, 1951's "Three O'Clock Blues",
and 1952's "You Don't Know Me", and four #2 R & B hits, 1953's "Please Love Me",
and 1954's "You Upset Me Baby", 1960's "Sweet Sixteen, Part I", and 1966's "Don't
Answer The Door, Part I". B.B.'s most popular crossover hit, 1970's "The Thrill Is
Gone" went to #15 on the pop charts.
His classic songs such as "Payin' The Cost To Be The Boss", "Caledonia ", " How
Blue Can You Get", "Everyday I Have The Blues", and "Why I Sing The Blues", are
concert (and fan) staples.
Multiple-Grammy winner, B.B. has received seven Honorary Doctorates,
numerous Gold and Platinum record awards, the Kennedy Center Honors in
1995 and the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2006.
B.B. has mixed traditional blues, jazz, swing, mainstream pop and jump into a
unique sound. His singing is richly melodic, both vocally and in the "singing"
that comes from his guitar. In B.B's words, "When I sing, I play in my mind; the
minute I stop singing…I start to sing by playing Lucille".

With his distinctive, soulful voice and gift for interpreting the blues, Gregg
Allman creates work rich with passion, verve, and the unerring confidence of a
true survivor. He and his powerhouse band cook up an earthy and atmospheric
musical stew infused with gritty R&B muscle, spooky Southern psychedelia,
and greasy deep soul grooves. Low Country Blues, his latest CD and a self-
assured and spirited collection, reveals Gregg at his best. The voice that has
the power to wring nuance and history from every lyric has become one of the
defining sounds in the history of American music.

Eric Thom of EXCLAIM Magazine said of Tom Rush, “…he’s got that rare one-of-
a-kind quality that makes you realize you’ve seen somebody who really
matters.” A living legend who helped usher in the singer-songwriter era and has
had a profound impact on American music, Rush was instrumental in shaping the folk revival of the ’60s and the renaissance of the ’80s and ’90s. His
distinctive guitar style, wry humor, warm, expressive voice and engaging
storytelling have universal appeal and have made his songs hits with folk,
country, heavy metal and rap audiences.
