Tropical Nights 2025 Concert Series 

Under the Moon in Tropical Nights

Pinecrest Gardens proudly presents the third annual Tropical Nights at Pinecrest Gardens.

Experience live salsa, mambo, jazz, soul, & funk rhythms with Chino Nuñez Orchestra; Gafieira Rio Miami and world-champion samba dancers; and an epic centennial tribute to Celia Cruz featuring a special appearance by Lucrecia as Celia Cruz accompanied by the Celia Cruz All Stars.

These immersive live music performances are presented in the historic Banyan Bowl amphitheater, nestled in a lush tropical oasis that enhances every performance, both visually and acoustically.

Since 1985, the Community Arts Program (CAP) Summer Concert Series has been attended by more than 70,000 concertgoers. It is a time-honored tradition that continued with virtual broadcasts to the world throughout the pandemic summers of 2020 and 2021, and gathered an average of 7,500 views each summer. This developed an extended audience that CAP is excited to welcome on-ground again in the summer of 2024! Throughout the school year, the Community Arts Program (CAP) also provides after-school music education with the CAP Conservatory for the Arts and its Miami Jazz Institute. These reach children and youth from over 53 Miami-Dade County Schools, no matter what students’ circumstance or ability.

The Tampa Jazz Club’s new season of Sunday afternoon concerts will begin with “Carter Plays Coltrane,” featuring the JEREMY CARTER QUINTET at HCC/Ybor City’s Mainstage Theatre on August 25, 2024 at 3pm. The first of eight shows presented as part of HCC’s Visual & Performing Arts Series, the concert celebrates the lasting legacy of John Coltrane, whose music has inspired generations of artists and listeners worldwide.

A big presence for years on the Bay Area jazz scene, JEREMY CARTER has a powerful yet intimate sound, perfectly suited to the music of Coltrane, whom he describes as “very influential on my development, as a saxophonist and as a person.” While his busy career takes him to many musical settings, Carter’s forays into Coltrane are always memorable. “It’s such a pleasure digging into this music, it’s challenging but so logical, and it’s timeless.”

The Quintet is an exemplary Bay Area band, featuring trumpeter JAMES SUGGS, pianist JOHN O’LEARY, bassist MAURICIO RODRIGUEZ, and drummer PAUL GAVIN.
