A Tribute to Vince Maggio. byThe Lost MelodyPianist Joe Davidian Bassist Jamie Ousley Drummer Austin McMahonTICKETS Jamie Ousley has been one of the most in-demand bassists in south Florida since he moved to Miami in the fall of 1998 to attend graduate school in the prestigious Jazz program of the University of Miami. He has since completed his Doctorate of Musical Arts in Jazz Bass Performance and continues to perform and teach both locally and internationally.
Joe Davidian was born and raised in Vermont, where he first learned classical piano and then was introduced to jazz by his father. Joe played gigs in Vermont while in school and began teaching at a young age. Joe received his Bachelor’s and Masters degrees (in 2003 & 2005, respectively) in Jazz Piano Performance from the University of Miami in Florida. He served as teaching assistant in the jazz department while working on his graduate degree. He has opened for Jane Monheit, Dianne Reeves and Danilo Perez, and has backed a “who’s who” of jazz artists, including Dave Liebman, Carmen Lundy, Duffy Jackson, Kevin Mahogany, Bob Mintzer, and Ira Sullivan. In addition to his classes at the NJW, he tours nationally and internationally with his trio, teaches adjunct piano at Belmont University and also maintains an extensive private teaching studio.
Sought out for his versatility, Austin McMahon actively performs in an array of jazz and world music ensembles ranging from trio to chamber jazz and big band. He recently recorded with the Ayn Inserto Jazz Orchestra (featuring Sean Jones, George Garzone, and John Fedchock), the Macuco Quintet, the Hofbauer/Rosenthal Quartet, and the groups that he coleads, the Lost Melody and Man on Land. McMahon has recently appeared with the Kate McGarry and Keith Ganz Ensemble, Jerry Bergonzi, Carmen Staaf, Noah Preminger, and Kevin Harris, among many others, and has performed at such iconic venues as Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, Dizzy’s Club, and Jordan Hall, as well as at numerous festivals, theaters, and clubs throughout the United States, the Dominican Republic, Italy, Germany, and France, to name a few.
