The Area Stage Company is very pleased to present Drummer/Manager/Producer/Band Leader Jerry Fischer and his Jazz Orchestra on Sunday November 21st at 4:00 pm, featuring Joe Donato, Brian Murphy, Mike Brignola and Brenda Alford.

After graduating from the High School of Performing Arts in New York City, Jerry Fischer won a scholarship to the Manhattan School of Music. That first year, he performed in six Broadway shows. He was hired to work on numerous industrial shows for American Airlines, General Motors, Ford, and United Airlines while working closely with Cy Coleman, Sammy Cahn, Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse. Soon Jerry became Liza Minelli’s first drummer/conductor, as well as personnel manager for Liza’s first major road tour, which he also orchestrated. His professional career includes working with Ben Vereen’s first night club act which he co-produced and co-managed, and traveling extensively with Diahann Carrol, Joel Grey & Joey Heatherton.

Mr. Fischers’s vast musical knowledge and production experience has enabled him to currently produce one of the most unique orchestras in the industry. The musicians in THE JERRY FISCHER ORCHESTRA have been featured with Buddy Rich, Henry Mancini, Burt Bacharach, The Naval Commodores, Doc Severinsen and many others. Since 2005 Jerry has been producing musicians for the shows at the Hard Rock Cafe, in Hollywood Florida.

When Mr. Fischer came to Florida in 1995, there was a void in big bands and even a bigger void in the nature of music that was being played; the music from the West Coast bands he knew from his national tours was not being played in Florida. In 1996, he created the orchestra as a forum for professional musicians, and is now known as a challenging opportunity to perfect state of the art Jazz arrangements. After playing for a few clubs, it became so popular with jazz fans that it moved to Monday nights so the best musicians could join. These nights became a tradition at “ONE NIGHT STAN’S,” a small blues club in Hollywood, until its closing.

Every Monday night for almost a year, these group of talented musicians and performers indulge themselves in the art of jazz. And now, the Area Stage Company is pleased to introduce them to new audiences.

JOE DONATO. Joe has been with the band almost from the beginning. He is known in the jazz world as one of the most exciting saxophone players. He has his own group and does seminars and teaches at the Universities around the country.

BRIAN MURPHY. Originally from Toronto, where he played with the Rob McConnell band and was the arranger for many of TITO PUENTE’S albums.

MIKE BRIGNOLA. Mike is a world class baritone player and is currently the personnel manager for THE WOODY HERMAN BAND as well as being its baritone player.

NEAL BONSANTI. Neal is probably the most sought after saxophone players, as he also plays oboe and English horn and has taught in the Colleges in South Florida for 30 years. He currently heads up the Jazz Band at FAU.
