Punta Gorda Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Wine and Jazz Festival wins tourism award

For the second time in three years, the Punta Gorda Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Wine and Jazz Festival has won a major travel award from the Southeast Tourism Society.  The Festival, which takes places annually in February, has been selected as one of the top 20 events in the whole of the Southeast United States to attend!

Each year, the Punta Gorda Chamber has grown the festival with additional events on the periphery of the main stage event on the Saturday afternoon. For 2012, the ink of the contracts is dry and the Chamber believes this will be the “best yet”.  All three acts are headlining acts and have appeared at least once before on the Wine & Jazz Festival stage – but never all together with such an incredible line-up. Mindi Abair, who was last year honored by Harvey Goldberg, Mayor of Punta Gorda, for her amazing contribution to the Festival’s successful growth, will return as the opening act, followed by the UK’s own Peter White ( appeared at the Wine & Jazz Festival in 2010) and the Rippingtons featuring Russ Freeman ( appeared in 2009).

Chamber President reported today that “ all VIP tickets for the 2012 show sold out over two months ago! Incredible. A small amount of Premium tickets are still available, as are regular tickets, which not only include the great jazz talents of our three headliners, but all includes wine and beer samples from local distributors and food offerings for the vast majority of local restaurants” .

The 2012 festival is also special in that the Chamber has added two extra events for festival goers to enjoy.  The day after the main stage event (Saturday February 18th), there will be two additional  attractions for visitors to enjoy – bearing in mind that over 60% of the festival guests are from out of State.

In conjunction with Presley Beane Financial Services,  guests are welcomed to an exclusive Sunday Jazz Brunch at the Isles Yacht Club from 11am-2pm, featuring three hours of incredible live music and sumptuous brunch provided by the Executive Chef at the Club. Cost is $35 per ticket and is limited to 250 people.

Then back in Laishley Park, Punta Gorda, from 3-6pm, local musician Jim Morris and the Big Bamboo Band will be turning their hand to two hours of jazz selections followed by one hour of their more usual Florida lifestyle music. Ticket prices range from $10-$20.

All tickets are now available in the online payment center at www.puntagordachamber.com
