Morry Sochat & The Special 20’s will headline the Rock N’ Blues Concert and Car Show on Memorial Weekend on Saturday, May 26, from 5-9 p.m. at Lake Concord Park in Casselberry. The free event is sponsored by radio station 105.9 SUNNY-FM. Sochat (pronounced “Socket”) and his band are from Chicago and play a mix of classic Chicago blues with swing and Rock N’ Roll from the 1950s. The band is influenced by Muddy Waters, Little Walter, Junior Wells and Louis Jordan. Sochat moved from Texas to Chicago in 1990 and started playing the harmonica. After performing a few gigs here and there, he created the Special 20’s with a variety of top-notch musicians from the area. It has been a rotating assembly of some of the best blues performers in the Midwest and they have recorded several critically-acclaimed albums, and they have been touring ever since.
The opening act is local favorite Daniel Heitz and his band. He has played all over Central Florida and has appeared in Casselberry several times.
Besides the music, there will be more than 100 classic cars, muscle cars, and hot rods for car enthusiasts to enjoy. And there will be a contest for best car. As part of this Memorial Weekend celebration, the city will again honor all veterans for their service with a color guard display and plaque. The Rock N’ Blues N’ Cars Art Exhibit also opens during the concert, with artwork featuring auto, music, and patriotic themes in the spirit of the event.

Parking is available across the street at the Fifth Third Bank Parking lot and at Home Depot. Disabled parking and drop-off is available at the Casselberry Police Department off 17-92.
