New Release By Anthony Wild - An All American Blues Musician

Gonna have to call a tow-truck
by
Anthony Wild
An All American Blues Musician
Anthony Wild Band

With inspiration and experience ranging over years of the Blues, Anthony Wild brings you back to a time when music was pure, raw and exciting. Join and take part in his plentiful journey’s with his latest release, written and titled on personal experience, Gonna have to call a tow-truck.

“Music has always been about healing and expression for me. Its an avenue to releasing what is inside your soul. It’s why I’ve always been so attracted to the blues, because I’ve lived them.” - Anthony Wild.

Originally from Wisconsin, Anthony began singing at 4 years of age. This served as a basis to inspire him to continue during his teen years, as he began to sing and record after his family moved to Florida.

This would eventually change, several years later, after moving to Daytona Beach, Florida, in 1994. This is where he began to perform locally in clubs, festivals and concerts and pick up his dream to pursue blues singing once again, bringing him new inspiration.

His drive to pursue blues singing was challenged when he later on in life developed a cancer. He was blessed with the overwhelming love and support of wonderful and faithful friends in his life who uplifted him throughout this battle. Their faith and Anthony’s endurance brought him to the idea that, after being given a second chance, he should devote himself to helping kids find their musical passion in life. As he had had a great value in music throughout his entire life, he decided that he should give back to those who are inspired within the younger generations in the same way: through music. This is when Kids Rock the Nation was founded. By mentoring young kids through gifting them with instruments and encouraging their musical growth, he gains an uplifting sense of satisfaction and confidence in his choice.

Through his Kids Rock the Nation program, he wishes to provide schools and groups of kids with the key to a long and prosperous musical career. From the submissions provided to Kids Rock the Nation, one requirement of the selected kids is their desire to learn, so he targets settings where that will be highly encouraged. In this way, Kids Rock the Nation has donated countless instruments across the US to schools and individuals alike providing them with guitars, drums, keyboards, violins, and many other instruments.

Brad Miller - Jazz Bassman

by Bill Meredith (561-602-2685)

Bass players are to music what offensive linemen are to football -- glue-like figures who don't get enough accolades for controlling the action while singers, soloists and drummers get credit akin to that sport's star quarterbacks, running backs and wide receivers. Yet even though he'll only turn 27 years old this month, Brooklyn, NY-based electric and acoustic bassist Brad Miller is already building the career of a future musical Hall-of-Famer.

Born in Manhattan in 1994, Miller moved to South Florida with his family as a child. Eschewing traditional musical education, his ear training included learning the works of icons like bassist Jaco Pastorius (1951-1987) and trumpeter Clifford Brown (1930-1956), plus the lengthy catalog of Miles Davis' longtime bassist, Ron Carter.

Before long, Miller was learning while earning by playing with some of the state's iconic figures: multi-reedman Ira Sullivan (1931-2020), Grammy-winning vocalist Jon Secada, guitarist Randy Bernsen (Zawinul Syndicate), trumpeter Melton Mustafa (1947-2017), steel drummer Othello Molineaux (Pastorius' Word of Mouth Big Band), drummer Jonathan Joseph (Jeff Beck), pianist Martin Bejerano (Jonathan Kreisberg), and saxophonist Turk Mauro (1944-2019).

"I started on electric bass at age 7 and then acoustic upright bass at 10," Miller says. "I got introduced to [bassist] Nicky Orta around that time, and he got me into listening to Jaco's music. So I grew up playing with people who knew him, like Ira, Randy, and Othello, while I was still a teenager. And all of those guys were really helpful to me after I decided to move back to New York seven years ago."

Many of Miller's current tour stops are with Blaque Dynamite, the nickname of another young phenom, 26-year-old drummer and Fort Worth, TX native Mike Mitchell (who started a long stint with iconic bassist Stanley Clarke before he even graduated from high school). A frenetic mix of jazz, hip hop and rock, Blaque Dynamite's three-week spring tour for 2021 includes South Florida appearances in Tampa, Orlando and Boca Raton. A kindred open-minded spirit, Miller makes a formidable rhythm section with Mitchell, whose mix of jazz (Tony Williams, Jack DeJohnette, Lenny White) and rock influences (John Bonham, Mitch Mitchell, Keith Moon) results in explosive forays and stylistic U-turns on Blaque Dynamite's two CDs, [i]Killing Bugs[i] (2017) and [i]Time Out[i] (2020).

Mitchell's own impressive sideman roster of stars and other accompanists includes bassist Christian McBride, keyboardist Herbie Hancock, vocalists Erykah Badu and Michael McDonald, saxophonist Bob Mintzer, vocalist/bassist Thundercat, and vocalist/keyboardist Jon Batiste.

"Mike has ridiculous chops but knows how to play in the pocket, especially because he also sings," Miller says. "He has 48,000 followers on Instagram."

Since returning to New York City, Miller has padded his resume by earning playing time with guitarists Wayne Krantz and Adam Rogers and saxophonist David Binney. The young bassist's own self-titled jazz/fusion and funk band features guitarist Oz Noy, the fusion wunderkind who has a dozen releases under his own name.

"During my first few months back in New York, I sat in with Oz's band, and he liked it from the get-go," Miller says. "So when I got a residency gig and could call whoever I wanted, I called Oz."

Miller's band also includes keyboardists like James Francies and BIGYUKI, and drummers like the fiery Jonathan Blake, Thomas Pridgen (The Mars Volta), and Ari Hoenig, best-known for his signature work with French jazz pianist Jean-Michel Pilc.

Despite his youth and lack of traditional music schooling, Miller also already has an impressive list of New York City performance venues (including the Blue Note, Smalls, Dizzy's Club Coca Cola, and the 55 Bar) and endorsements with Serek Basses, Epifani Amplifiers, La Bella Strings, and Moollon Musical Instruments.

"I was playing a Fender Precision bass a few years ago at a gig," Miller says, "and some dude who said he was my Uber driver just drove off with it after I put it in the car. I'd just spent two years paying it off, and had no endorsements at the time. But I first got one with Moollon, a Korean company, because they re-create vintage Fenders so well."

All perhaps due, in part, to the similar versatility and fluidity to an influential hero who likewise had no problem shifting musical gears between his powerhouse big band; the funk and rock of Blood, Sweat & Tears, fusion of Weather Report, and heady pop of Joni Mitchell.

"Jaco is still the best," Miller says. "Through his instructional DVDs, I've learned, like he always said, to 'always learn the melody.'" More at www.bradmillerbass.com.

JazzAid LIVE FROM THE BANYAN BOWL

2018 &2019 John Lennon Songwriting Contest
grand prize winner, 13 acclaimed albums
and featured artist with Jon Batiste’s House
Band for “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert”
Grace Kelly

An unequivocal musical prodigy, singer-saxophonist-songwriter-composer and band leader Grace Kelly has rocked the jazz world with sold-out concerts, 13 acclaimed albums and a resume that includes performing at the Hollywood Bowl and as part of the house band for “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” – all before reaching her mid-twenties.

Kelly’s early career featured performances at Barack Obama’s 2009 inauguration at age 16 and at 14 as a soloist with the Boston Pops playing an original composition arranged for the legendary orchestra; she has since then played over 900 shows as bandleader in 35 countries at venues like the Kennedy Center and Moscow Symphony Hall and for the Montreal, Newport, and Montreux international jazz festivals. Touted for her scorching saxophone stylings and purring vocals, Kelly has performed and recorded with renowned artists including Lin Manuel- Miranda, Dave Brubeck, Phil Woods, Huey Lewis, Harry Connick Jr., Gloria Estefan, Questlove, and Wynton Marsalis.

As the Winner of “Song of the Year” for her single “Feels Like Home” in the 2018 John Lennon Songwriting Contest, Kelly has also won multiple ASCAP Composer Awards, Boston Music Awards, multiple DOWNBEAT music awards, International Songwriting Awards. She has also appeared as a featured performer in films and television, including acclaimed documentary “Sound of Redemption: The Frank Morgan Story”, Amazon’s Emmy-nominated original series “Bosch”, and featured in the 2017 Emmy-winning Yamaha production “The Right Note”.

Featured by Vanity Fair as a millennial shaking up the jazz world, Kelly’s state-of-the-art brand of electro jazz-pop and inventive digital content are pushing her to the forefront of the fusion scene, alongside names like Snarky Puppy, Jacob Collier, Cory Henry, Robert Glasper, Jon Batiste, and Too Many Zooz.  “The GO TiME: Brooklyn album was a turning point in my career as a performer who loves connecting with audiences,” Kelly says. “Because we were able to use technology to capture the visual aspect and live energy of the show in a new way, I could really bring my whole dancing, furry-pink-boa-wearing self to the project – and the response was incredible. After over a decade of performing internationally and releasing albums, I’ve found that I grow so much as an artist when I focus on helping my fans feel the same exhilaration and joy that I do when I perform for them.”

Kelly’s live performance is offering a unique musical journey and contagious exuberance on stage and will captivate audiences as she performs new songs from this new album GO TiME: Live in LA: her 13th CD and the third video album in the GO TiME series. The new release continues her innovative video album concept for fans by incorporating special guests and adding her own inventive dance moves while playing. Performing her fresh, playful musical stylings with great panache, Grace’s infectious positivity and charismatic stage presence brings a smile to everyone.

Aside from thrilling audiences in concert, Kelly’s stardom reaches the acclaim of her audiences online. The millennial artist has developed a new paradigm to exhibit her remarkable talent and unparalleled showmanship with the masses, curating an immersive user experience for her fans across multiple social media platforms. Kelly’s dedication to posting engaging content and offering insight into her daily life has deepened her brand, bringing thousands upon thousands of eager fans into her world and gaining millions of views online, allowing the artist to bridge the gap between virtuosic musician and cultural phenomenon.

Dan Tepfer (Solo Piano)
“Bach to the Future"

The astonishing pianistic and technological talent of Dan Tepfer will be on display as he follows the arc of J.S. Bach and his impact on modern jazz in “Bach to the Future,” an incredible journey.

Dan Tepfer is one of this generation’s most extraordinary and brilliant talents, earning an international reputation as a pianist-composer and AI innovator with wide-ranging ambition and individualism. By looking at his tour schedule, it’s impossible to predict what Dan will do next. He has performed around the world with some of the leading lights in jazz and classical music, spending a decade as sidekick to the late, legendary alto saxophonist, Lee Konitz, and then becoming a favored accompanist to soprano Renée Fleming.

Whether it is his extraordinary original and improvisational expressions of Bach’s Goldberg Variations/ Variations or the ingenious intersection between science and art in Natural Machines, Dan Tepfer unfailingly thrills and astounds.

April 17, 2021 • 8:00 p.m. EDT
David Kikoski Quartet
featuring Eric Alexander

The New Jersey pianist has had a long career as one of the area’s swingingest pianists. His band features NY all-stars with renowned tenor saxophonist Eric Alexander, bassist Joe Martin and the incomparable drummer, Billy Hart.

One evening on a gig, pianist David Kikoski was told by his saxophonist, “man you are in ‘K-Mode’ tonight.” David loved the reference immediately. Subsequently, that sobriquet evolved into “Kayemode” as it became not just the title of a 2016 album, but also the name of his band. It is true that Kikoski can frequently get into that hard-core beast-like state of effervescent, muscular swing.

On this date, along with preferred rhythm section mates Joe Martin on bass and the splendid, venerable drummer, Billy Hart, is tenor saxophonist Eric Alexander, who has been a South Florida JAZZ favorite for several years, now making his fourth appearance. Alexander is one of the most respected and also prolific artists on the jazz scene.

LINKS TO LISTEN & PURCHASE TAS' MUSIC

So, here’s Tas again with another album of original songs – songs that are the latest soundtrack of a tried and true Road Warrior who continues to live the life where the only thing for him to do is just keep drivin’ on. Most of Tas’ usual talented studio companions are on this ride as well as a few newcomers .Different from his other recordings that paired Tas’ guitar with harmonica, Drive On brings a tenor sax into the mix via Houston‘s Anthony Terry (Annika Chambers Band, No Refund Band). Courtesy of Shining Stone Records, multiple Blues Music Award nominee, Anthony Geraci on piano and B3 delivers standout performances that showcase his mastery of the many styles Tas’ songs have required of him. The young blood, Gabe Stillman (2019 Albert King Award winner) lends a hand(s) to provide the slide guitar work. His band mate, Colin Beatty (bass) also contributes to create this fresh, new sound for fans of Tas Cru’s music to enjoy.
