TERRY HANCK BAND
Johnny Cat Soubrand comes in from California, joined by Krister Landivar on drums and Hugh Burrows on bass, supporting Terry’s release, Grease to Gravy.
Terry Hanck has built a distinguished career as one of the leading saxophonists and vocalists in modern blues and soul. Chicago-born and long associated with the California scene before relocating to South Florida, he first came to wider attention during a decade on the road with Elvin Bishop. For more than 20 years he has led his own hard-hitting band at clubs, festivals, and fairs across the U.S. and beyond, known for a big, expressive tenor sound, soulful vocals, and original songs that draw on New Orleans R&B, West Coast jump, classic soul, and blues.
Along the way, Hanck has earned multiple major honors. He is a multi-time Blues Music Award winner for “Best Horn,” a Living Blues Awards Critics’ Poll winner for Most Outstanding Musician (Horns), and a first-place winner in the International Songwriting Competition’s Blues category. His recordings have drawn national attention, with albums reaching the top of the Living Blues charts, a nomination for “Soul Blues Album of the Year,” and song placements including the indie film Forty Shades of Blue. Onstage, he continues to bring that award-winning combination of tone, timing, and showmanship that keeps audiences coming back.
With his latest Little Village Foundation release, Grease to Gravy, Terry Hanck adds a fresh chapter to his long-running blend of sax-driven blues and soul. The 2025 album is out now on CD and, for the first time in his career, is also being pressed on vinyl. The music carries his signature mix of New Orleans R&B, West Coast jump, and classic soul-blues, delivered with the tone and feel that have earned him multiple national awards. Fans are encouraged to pick up Grease to Gravy directly from Terry at live shows, with the album also available on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Pandora, iTunes, and all major streaming platforms.
"Everything on Grease to Gravy grooves mightily but that’s because it’s a clear reflection of Hanck’s playing and singing."
-Michael Kinsman
For this tour, Terry Hanck is joined by a powerhouse trio of musicians who bring his songs to life onstage. Longtime guitarist Johnny “Cat” Soubrand—flying in from California—adds his unmistakable tone and razor-sharp feel to every set, a partnership with Terry that stretches back more than a decade and remains central to the band’s sound. Rounding out the rhythm section are Krister Landivar on drums and Hugh Burrows on bass, supplying the tight, driving groove that anchors Terry’s blend of blues, soul, and jump-influenced energy. Together, this lineup delivers the kind of high-level musicianship and stage chemistry that audiences remember long after the night is over.
