Jazz at the J:
Brazil Comes to NMB!
Born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, the heart of bossa nova and samba, vocalist Rose Max and guitarist Ramatis Moraes bring the spirit of Brazil to every stage they share. They moved to the United States in 1993 and have maintained a vibrant performing career ever since, appearing at festivals, concert halls, and clubs while building a strong following in South Florida and beyond.
Celebrated in Brazilian, Spanish-speaking, and American communities, Rose and Ramatis have earned numerous honors over the years—Rose as Best Brazilian Singer and Ramatis as Best Brazilian Producer/Musician. Their performances highlight the full range of Brazilian music, from intimate bossa nova and lyrical samba-canção to upbeat samba, choro, and Brazilian-influenced jazz.
Ramatis is a versatile guitarist, bassist, songwriter, producer, arranger, and sound engineer, known for sophisticated harmonic voicings and rhythmic drive that create a rich foundation for the music. Rose is a singer-songwriter whose warm, expressive voice and precise phrasing bring Brazilian lyrics and melodies to life; she also plays percussion onstage and enjoys acoustic guitar at home as part of her creative process.
Together, Rose Max and Ramatis Moraes offer an evening that connects Brazilian tradition with the openness of jazz—inviting Night of Jazz at the J audiences to experience the sounds, rhythms, and atmosphere of Rio de Janeiro in an intimate concert setting.
