A Holly Jolly Concert - Celebrating the SeasonEnsemble: MMB Concert Band
A Holly Jolly Concert, on Dec. 10 and 11, is the MMB’s annual holiday gift of music to the community. Pre-show entertainment will be provided by the Sunshine Brass Quintet. “Join us for a jolly evening of holiday favorites,” said Conductor Staci Rosbury. Santa and Mrs. Claus will join the community for the Dec. 11 performance, soprano Rachel Murphy will sing, and the band will have you whistling seasonal tunes as you walk out the door.

​Ensemble: 3-2-1 Jazz Orchestra
The Cool Side of Christmas, presented by the 3-2-1 Jazz Orchestra on Dec. 12, celebrates the season with jazz that sparkles. “Our program blends fresh takes on Christmas favorites with sleek, modern arrangements and cool jazz classics,” said Conductor Kurt Schulenburg. “This will be a festive evening that nods to tradition while keeping things stylish and contemporary.”

Saxophones for Christmas!

   The Adagio Sax Quartet (ASQ), a small ensemble of the Melbourne Municipal Band, will present an afternoon of holiday music on Sunday, Dec. 21 at 3 p.m. at Harbor City Baptist Church, 2711 N Harbor City Blvd., Melbourne. There is no charge for admission; a freewill donation will be taken.     “We invite everyone to enjoy the unique sounds of our group as we play a variety of holiday music specifically arranged for the quartet,” said Dave Hutson, director of the group and baritone sax player. “We’ll feature a number of songs that will make the afternoon special, such as We Need a Little Christmas, The Christmas Waltz, Carol of the Russian Children, and Coventry Carol.”   In addition to Hutson, the ASQ musicians include alto sax player Ben Gonzalez, soprano sax player Mark Piszczek and tenor sax player Frank Tuckwiller. 

About the Melbourne Municipal Band

Now in its 60th season, the Melbourne Municipal Band (MMB) provides free, quality concerts to the community and helps nurture the next generation of musicians through youth education and performance initiatives. Founded in 1965, the MMB is an integral part of the Space Coast cultural community, serving more than 21,000 attendees each year through concerts, dances and other ensemble performances. The band's 80-plus members and auxiliary volunteer 30,000 hours of their time each year in the form of rehearsals and performance time.
