Hiromi Uehara—known simply as Hiromi—is a Japanese pianist and composer whose work bridges genres with striking virtuosity and imagination. Among other noted accomplishments, she won the Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Jazz Album (with The Stanley Clarke Band) in 2011.
The Sonicwonder tour showcases Hiromi’s high-energy fusion quartet. The tour highlights polished compositions and spontaneous creativity, pushing the boundaries between genres. In the performances, she mixes her virtuosic piano playing and synth work with improvisational flair; audiences hear a musical world that draws from progressive rock, jazz fusion, and classical influences, all delivered with a sense of excitement and exploration.
The band personnel for Sonicwonder consists of Hiromi on piano (and often keyboards and synth), Adam O’Farrill on trumpet, Hadrien Feraud on bass, and Gene Coye on drums. Each member brings a distinct voice: O’Farrill contributes melodic and dynamic trumpet lines; Feraud anchors the grooves with deep, funky bass; Coye propels the rhythm with intensity; and Hiromi’s own instrumental scope spans not only pianistic virtuosity but also electronic textures.
