Jazz Horizon.

Friday, September 1, 2023 ~ 7:30-10PM
Sandrell Rivers
Black Box Theater
6103 NW 7th Avenue
Miami, FL 33127

The Sunshine Jazz Concert Series welcomes back Eddy Balzola & ORIENTE! "Soul Jazz Meets the Clave". Cuban born artist, composer and guitarist, Balzola debuted his funky world fusion band at the famed Snug Harbor Jazz Club in New Orleans in the mid-90s. ORIENTE’s bluesy jazz and soul, seasoned with Afro-Cuban & Caribbean rhythms and Balzola's melodic guitar style was unique, fresh and colorful. The streets of New Orleans, Cuba, and world travels have inspired his band’s sound over the years. ORIENTE's six CD recordings reveal how Balzola is always evolving. The band’s musical palette ranges from bluesy soul, melodic, harmonic and sensitive guitar to swing with serious organic rhythms allowing the freedom to improvise at any moment.

The ORIENTE! Quintet will feature Eddy on guitar and vocals with long-time band members: multi-percussionist Yoel Del Sol and Stuart King on trumpet joined by world class bassist Rusty Heck on upright & electric bass, and very special guest, fabulous world Jazz flautist Magela Herrera.

SJO programming is presented with support of the
Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs and
Cultural Affairs Council, the Miami-Dade County Mayor
and Board of County Commissioners. SJO events are
