*CANCELLED DUE TO COVID* Miami Jazz Cooperative Returns to In-person Performance January 16, 2022 with Live From EMMET'S PLACE

"Miami Jazz Cooperative
January 4, 2022

The Miami Jazz Cooperative is disappointed to announce the cancellation of the January 16 event, Live at Emmet’s Place, In-Person at the Miami Jazz Cooperative. This incredible event was conceived to draw upon the international jazz musicians who were scheduled to come to Miami to sail on the 2022 Jazz Cruise on January 17.   We always knew that, if the Jazz Cruise was canceled, our January 16 event would also have to be canceled.  Regrettably (but not surprisingly), the producers of the Jazz Cruise announced today that their entire 2022 schedule of cruises was being canceled as a result of the new COVID spike.

The process of refunding all tickets purchased for the MJC event is beginning tonight.

We are grateful to all of the people and organizations who collaborated to make our January 16 event possible and exciting: the musicians, particularly our artistic director, Emmet Cohen, our co-producers, Michael Ragan Productions and Coral Gables Magazine, and the Thesis Hotel, our host venue.

While we are disappointed, we are not discouraged.  The planning for a similar exciting event before the 2023 Jazz Cruise is underway.  We are ever hopeful that, next January, the world will be at a point where gatherings of people for jazz and other events are safe for all.

Best wishes for a happy and safe 2022.
The Miami Jazz Cooperative"

Florida Jazz & Blues Festival List Updated for Spring 2022 - Make Your Plans for Getting Outdoors for LIVE Music

Festing and fun,
under the Florida sun.

Jazz & Blues Florida's website at

*NOTE TO EVENT PRODUCERS & ARTISTS*
December 18, 2022

A note that there are TWENTY-NINE Jazz/Blues festivals scheduled in Florida in February, March and April 2022. And probably more that we don’t even know about yet and more that are marketing their events as music festivals.

We are strongly recommending starting your promo with us in January not only because of the March Festival Madness (14 festivals this month alone), but also because we are now rolling out our promotion campaign that is focused on Florida seasonal and vacation visitors that love this music, before they even arrive. The campaign covers the US and the world, uses multiple online and print platforms, and started running this past summer with on-site promotion at northern festivals and will continue through April.

Our deadline for orders is 12/20, deadline for content if we are creating artwork is 12/23 and deadline for artwork being submitted complete is 12/29. We are ready if you are.

Here is the current festival list:

Apopka International Jazz Festival - Date and Line Up Announced for March 2022

A Festival of Jazz,
Food, Drinks, Art
and More...

Saturday, March 19, 2022 ~ 4-10pm
Apopka Amphitheater
3710 Jason Dwelley Pkwy
Apopka, FL 32712

Osborne’s solo career has brought him four grammy nominations,  five gold and platinum albums, including his debut self entitled album ” Jeffrey Osborne”, “Stay with Me Tonight” and “Only Human”.He scored an international hit with “On the Wings of Love” in 1982. After his six albums released on A&M during the ’80s, he moved to Arista for Only Human (1990), then switched to a series of independent labels. His releases during the 2000s included ” That’s for Sure” (2000) and “Music Is Life” (2003), as well as cover albums ” From the Soul “(2005) and “A Time for Love” (2013). His latest project entitled “Worth It All” was released in 2018 on Artistry Music. This project was written and produced by Jeffrey Osborne, with the exception of one song entitled ” Work It” which was co-written with his son Jeffrey Osborne Jr. who also performed on the track with him. This project, inspired by the late great George Duke has taken Osborne back to his deep R&B roots.

The double Grammy nominated ensemble features the extraordinary June Kuramoto on koto (“The world’s greatest koto player” – Stanley Clarke), leader/producer Dan Kuramoto on winds/shakuhachi, Hawaiian Kimo Cornwell (Al Jarreau/Maze/Kalapana) keyboards, Dean Cortez (Boz Skaggs/Caldera/Willie Bobo) bass, and super drummer Land Richards (Hubert Laws/Gladys Knight/ Earth Wind and Fire/Stevie Wonder/Sonny Stitt).

Born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, Nestor Torres moved to New York City, where he pursued Classical flute studies at Mannes School of Music, Jazz at Berklee College of Music and Classical and Jazz at New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. During that time he also learned to improvise in the ‘Charanga’ Cuban Dance Music genre, which helped shape and develop Torres’ unique melodic and danceable style.

This rhythmic and mellifluous sound evolution remains apart in a class by itself with 4 Latin Grammy nominations, one Grammy nomination and one Latin Grammy Award. In addition to 18 solo recordings, Torres’ unique collaborations with diverse artists such as Gloria Estefan, Kenny Loggins, Dave Mathews, Paquito d’Rivera, Herbie Hancock, Arturo Sandoval and Tito Puente; as well as performances with the Cleveland, Singapore, and New World Symphony Orchestras among many others, are testament to his remarkable versatility and artistry. 2017 brought two diverse album releases for Torres; the Latin Grammy Nominated – “Jazz Flute Traditions”, a spectacular tribute to his jazz flute mentors and influences, and “del Caribe, soy!”, a collection of classical compositions by Latin American composers, including the great Puerto Rican icon Rafael Hernandez, alongside contemporary works written for Torres by Tania Leon and Miguel del Aguila. This relentless exploration of musical possibilities without boundaries led to a recent concerto commission by Mariano Morales for a world premiere with Torres and The Lynn Philharmonic. In May 2021 Torres recorded his much-awaited second classical album. The album was produced under the direction of the highly recognized and multi-Grammy winning Russian/Polish (Uruguayan born) classical composer and conductor Jose Serebrier.

National recording artist and saxophonist Dee Lucas has been steadily growing his brand and fan base beginning with “Remembrance “in 2004. Thereafter, it has been a steady showcase of unique stylings with “Something to Ride 2”(2007), “Standing Room Only” (2010), “Rebirth of the Smooth “(2012), “The Smooth Factor” (2014), “Going Deeper” (2016), “The Sweet Spot” (2017), & “Going Left” (2018). His new 2020 release “The Time Is Now” marks his best work to date, it marks his 9th worldwide release and 8th studio recording. It features some of the best producers in the business: Adam Hawley, David P. Stevens, and Lew Laing, Jr. This project has already produced 4 radio singles on the smooth jazz & R&B charts. It’s current single Full Tilt’ featuring guitarist Blake Aaron is an immediate favorite among smooth jazz fans worldwide and is currently positioned on several smooth jazz charts.

Acclaimed international Jazz and Soul vocalist Lori Williams is turning a corner. In possession of a most impressive resume as a performing artist, music educator, songwriter, producer, vocalist and musical theater actress, her reputation and level of respect are top shelf and unimpeachable. Many aspiring singers and vocal students look up to Lori as well – be it in classrooms, the multiple church, community and concert choirs she conducts, or the clinics she runs through her organization – Positive Music for Positive Minds (PositiveMusicPM.org / PMPM). Her annual summer vocal jazz symposium and tour have taken her to Europe (Austria, Germany, Slovakia, Russia, Switzerland, Czech Republic, and Ukraine), Japan and across the USA, performing in festivals and conducting vocal jazz workshops.

ZnL Productions (formerly Steglich Ross and Associates) is a joint venture between to long time friends, Zita Steglich-Ross and Lori L. Burke, bringing their passion for music along with their event, conference and festival planning and execution expertise to host the Apopka International Jazz Festival (formerly Orlando International Jazz Festival). These ladies will host the 2nd Annual Apopka International Jazz Festival Saturday, March 19, 2022.

Building on the solid foundation of the successful February 2020 festival, we will bring, internationally known musical entertainers, local bands, diverse food vendors and fine art and crafts to the beautiful Apopka Amphitheater. This one day event is expected to draw a few thousand attendees and will be promoted regionally and nationally.
