Florida Hurricane Recovery Resource List for People, Businesses and Volunteers

FLORIDADISASTER.BIZ
DEO is updating www.FloridaDisaster.biz with real-time information for business owners, families, and employees throughout the preparation, response and recovery phases of Hurricane Ian.

BUSINESS DAMAGE ASSESSMENT SURVEY
The Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) and the State Emergency Response Team (SERT) activated the Business Damage Assessment Survey in response to Hurricane Ian. Survey responses will allow the state to expedite Hurricane Ian recovery efforts by gathering data and assessing the needs of affected businesses.

ACCOMMODATIONS / HOUSING

Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM)
FDEM has compiled a Shelter in Place Survey to provide critical information to first responders in the aftermath of Hurricane Ian. We are asking all individuals in the impact area of Hurricane Ian that made the decision to shelter in place to complete the survey. Please visit FloridaDisaster.org/Info to find the Shelter in Place Survey.
FDEM has activated the State Assistance Information Line (SAIL) to provide an additional resource for Floridians to receive up-to-date information regarding Hurricane Ian. Residents and visitors can call this toll-free hotline at 1-800-342-3557.
FDEM Liaisons have been identified and deployed to counties to provide on-site response assistance and to conduct damage assessments after the storm.

Florida Housing Finance Corporation
Florida Housing has ensured that all current listings are up to date in the event that families need to quickly relocate at www.FloridaHousingSearch.org.
Each SHIP office has an adopted disaster strategy that allows for assistance in the immediate aftermath of a declared disaster. Strategies may include temporary relocation and rental assistance, debris removal and short-term repairs to prevent further damage to the structure or to allow for occupancy until further repairs are made. Please contact your local office directly for more information: Local Government Information (floridahousing.org)

Airbnb
Airbnb has partnered directly with Sarasota County for a county-specific voucher program administered by the County.

Expedia Emergency Accommodations Module
Throughout Hurricane Ian, VISIT FLORIDA has activated its Emergency Accommodations Module with Expedia to provide real-time hotel availability to impacted travelers throughout the state. This module is automatically populated from Florida inventory information provided to Expedia.
For Accommodations
If you haven’t already, we encourage you to add your property to Expedia, and keep your listing details and inventory as up to date as possible during the storm.
Listing your property on Expedia is FREE, and includes top travel booking websites such as Expedia.com, Hotels.com, Travelocity, and Orbitz. To learn more and sign up, click here.
Update Your Expedia Listing
Expedia’s lodging partners can continue to use their regular process for managing and updating their listing information. To log into your Expedia partner account, click here.

Pet Policies
It is estimated that 35% of Americans own a cat and that around 45% own dogs. With the US being a nation of pet lovers, it means tens of thousands of Floridians are seeking accommodation for the ENTIRE family. State officials are asking hotels and vacation rentals to waive their no-pet policies for animals and their owners seeking shelter during Hurricane Ian.

WIFI HOTSPOTS FROM COMCAST
Comcast has opened Xfinity WIFI hotspots in Central, North and Southwest Florida, and the Panhandle for Xfinity customers and non-customers to stay connected during and after the storm. Details are available here.

Jazz & Blues Florida On The Road! At the Red Rooster in Madison WI for The Jimmys!

Jazz & Blues Florida On The Road!

September 23, 2022 The Red Rooster 2513 Seiferth Road Madison, WI 53716 www.redroostermadison.com https://www.facebook.com/redroosterma... The JIMMYS www.thejimmys.net www.facebook.com/thejimmysband Another packed house. Another night of people having fun and enjoying some fine music, that these musicians have fun making for us. And enjoying the people gathered here. Great sound - large band in a relatively small room and YOU CAN HEAR THE MUSIC! How sweet is that compared to the TOO LOUD places? People drinking, dancing and eating on a Wisco Friday night. The good life, indeed...

And, probably the last music I get to up here before heading south to Florida in a week. It'll take me (Us?!?! For a little drama affect people...hehehe) a week or so to get there via King Biscuit Fest, Oxford Fest, BB's in Memphis, BB's in St. Louis, The Alamo in Springfield and once in FLA stops at the Bradfordville Blues Club and the Forgotten Music fest before I get back to my desk. Keep on eye on the JBF social media accounts and follow the bouncing hat... SOUTHBOUND!

ABOUT THE JOHN KNOX VILLAGE CULTURAL ARTS PAVILION:

John Knox Village held a grand opening in June 2022 for the newest addition to its 70-acre campus – the $34 million Cultural Arts Pavilion at Westlake. The JKV Symphony Pops Series will kick off at the Cultural Arts Center on Oct. 10 with the South Florida Symphony Orchestra and award-winning singer Anthony Nunziata performing classics of the Frank Sinatra era. In the coming months, a JKV Dance Series will make its debut. The schedule of upcoming events and ticket information will be posted on Eventbrite.

The North Central Florida Blues Society is excited to bring the 2nd Annual Gainesville Acoustic Blues Showcase to Heartwood Soundstage in downtown Gainesville on Sunday, September 25. The performers are: Little Mike with Josh Miller, Sheba the Mississippi Queen, Paco, Middleground, and Blues Meets Girl.

Sheba the Mississippi Queen’s influences are Billy Holiday, Etta James, Tina Turner, Aretha, and Big Mama Thornton, and she has performed at Springing the Blues, the Coral Gables Blues Festival, and the Long Island Blues Festival. The opportunity to see her in a rare acoustic performance is one you must not miss!

Josh Miller Band. Miller has gained renown for playing bonafide Blues, payinghomage to the greats without mere mimicry throughout Florida.

Paco has been thrilling Gainesville audiences for many years. His style is difficult to categorize and uniquely his own. The most recurrent comment you’ll hear from guitar players in the audience is that he plays chops that you don’t hear from anybody else. His vocals have an ease and sincerity which makes him relatable to practically every audience.

The duo Middleground consists of Barbara and Mark Armbrecht and is the product of over 40 years of collaboration between these two professional musicians. The music has evolved over the years to now include an eclectic mix of folk, pop, blues, ragtime and classic favorites, all of which have been flavored by Barbara’s finger picking style, use of open tunings and occasional use of slide and supported by Mark’s solid and expressive bass technique. Middleground was an International Blues Challenge participant in 2013. Barbara also competed at the International Blues Challenge in 2015 as a solo performer.

Blues Meets Girl is a smokin’, sexy collaboration between British Blues veteran Mr. Downchild and Texas–born singer/songwriter Kasimira Vogel.  Together, they weave their influences and experiences creating down-home Blues. Their style has been called a combination of Delta and Chicago Blues.  Blues Meets Girl reached the semifinals of the 2022 International Blues Challenge.
