The North Central Florida Blues Society is excited to announce that the Snacks Blues Band will headline the free Downtown Blues Concert on November 5, 2021 kicking off the festive weekend that includes the 40th Annual Downtown Festival & Art Show.

The Snacks Blues Band creates predominantly original music that draws heavily from the deepest of Blues traditions and infuses a wide variety of modern influences. The trio, based out of Jacksonville, Florida has performed together for over 15 years, winning the 2013 St. Johns River Blues Festival, independently releasing their own albums and performing all across the South. The Snacks feature the powerful, barrel-chested vocals and rhythmic juke-joint harmonica stylings of John-Michael Brown, the lead tones and delta-style fingerpicking of Brian Boos on guitar, and the versatile percussion of “Mad” Matt Schaeffer.

Brown and Boos, who were childhood friends, formed the original iteration of The Snacks after Brown returned from his first Army combat tour of Iraq in 2003. The two debuted as a Blues duo. In the Spring of 2012, after many successes as a duo, Matt, another childhood friend, was added and The Snacks continued on as a trio.

In 2019 they reached the semifinals of the 35th Annual International Blues Challenge in Memphis, TN.

Blues Meet Girl (7 pm) and The Good Voodoo (8 pm) will also perform, by virtue of winning the North Central Florida Blues Society Blues Regional 2021 International Blues Challenge!

The Downtown Blues Concert is an annual event provided by the North Central Florida Blues Society, and funded in part by the Alachua County Tourist Development Tax and The City of Gainesville Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Outside Agency Grant, to kick off the Downtown Festival & Art Show weekend.

The North Central Florida Blues Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation, cultivation, nurturing and promotion of Blues Music. The Society also hosts monthly electric and acoustic jams. See website and FACEBOOK for more information.

Tom Craig Band On Tour Playing Indoor and Outdoor Florida Clubs in November

"MY GOAL FOR THIS RECORD
WAS TO MAKE IT 100% BLUES"

“On Christmas Day, 1977 I got my first record player and my first record, ‘Bobby Bland and B.B. King Together Again...Live’. Three days later, on my 11th birthday, I got my first guitar. I was too young to understand where Blues music came from or what it was about, but I felt it touch me deeply. Today, I feel privileged to be part of this uniquely American artform. I am grateful for all the Blues artists who have had a sincere effect on me.” - Tom Craig

Good Man Gone Bad is ONLY available at shows.

“Good Man Gone Bad’ is just out and about to make
a big splash in the blues world.”  – Tas Cru

at
This is an indoor festival that spans across 5
venues at the Marriott & Sheraton Hotels on the
Gulf of Mexico in Clearwater Beach, FL. Music
lasts all day and into the late evening.

Guitarist Nate Najar is making it known world-wide that he is one of this decade’s finest modern jazz exponents, and not by saying it, but rather playing it. He uses a distinctive technique to convey his artistic prowess- not many artists play acoustic classical guitar with right hand classical technique, yet it is the perfect choice for Najar’s comprehensive approach. Not restricted to single notes or chords, Nate seamlessly weaves melody, harmony and rhythmic freedom. The result is music that is swinging, emotional, inventive and interesting.

Enjoy Nate's Recorded Music:
