Niecie on the Road in Florida
Spring, 2019

Florida got a taste of Niecie during her spring run in May and she’s ready to do it all again. In May Niecie performed in the Women In Blues Showcase at the Cypress and Grove in Gainesville sponsored by the North Central Florida Blues Society and organized by Bridget Kelly and Tim Fik of the Bridget Kelly Band. This gathering of SIXTEEN blues ladies from across the United States has become one of the concert highlights of year, packing the room to STANDING ROOM ONLY for the day. Niecie then went down-state with the show to a SOLD OUT MONDAY NIGHT crowd at the Funky Biscuit in Boca Raton, southeast Florida’s music venue of renown. Keeping the momentum going, she crossed over Alligator Alley to the Gulf Coast to check into the happening music scene over there. Tommy Lee Cook welcomed her with open arms as they bluesified the jam at The World Famous Buckingham Blue Bar. True to her music, Niecie was right at home there at the true country roadhouse as easily as she was at the Biscuit in downtown Boca the night before with her stage presence and original blues lyrics that reach across the blues spectrum to all listeners. The genuineness of her performance rings true with the accompanying musicians, adding to the upbeat vibe.

This rang true to life when Niecie stepped up to help her blues sister Pam Taylor from South Carolina who was also on tour in Florida at the same time after participating in the Women in Blues. Pam Taylor and her band the Flying V’s were stranded with mechanical problems on their way to their gig at the Barrel Room in Fort Myers and were not going to be able to make the scheduled start time. As luck would have it, Niecie had the night off and through the great connections she already made in the area gathered up some of the best locals for a backing band and was there at downbeat to start the gig until the band arrived. What is really cool, Niecie arranged for a friend from Michigan that had just moved to Florida fetch Pam and the band and got them to the gig in time to do the final set. At the time Pam had never met Niecie’s friend, “Cactus Jack,” and as it turned out, he jumped on board and graciously helped Pam and The Flying V’s finish the rest of their tour. Blues love!

Niecie continued on her way indulging in every chance she could to sing. Continuing on with hitting the hot-spots, Kevin Barry of the Bonita Blues Festival invited Niecie to join The Old 41 Band on stage at Jack’s Seafood in Naples for a couple songs that got the partiers on their feet and their feet on the dance floor at their annual end-of-season party. Later that same day Niecie had ANOTHER highlight sitting in with Florida’s own Albert Castiglia at his CD release party at the Rhythm House in Fort Myers to another packed room of music lovers. And, between the stage time, and SOME beach time, she could be seen at other live music hotspots in the area supporting her musician friends such as Ruth Wyand at The Little Bar in Goodland/Marco Island and at the DogTooth and South Street in Naples. Niecie states “With all the love I received for me and my music during this Florida run, how could I not want to come right back! Florida has one of the most happening music scene…I love it!” And, EVERYBODY that got to experience her music is waiting to welcome her back for full shows of her chart-topping original music with her seasoned band behind her.

Cashbox Magazine has described Niecie as a “raw and soulful…rocking blues powerhouse”. Produced by Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award winner former Allman  Brothers Johnny Neel,  Niecie’s music has topped  charts all over the world landing on Billboard, RMR and Living Blues charts.   Blue-E-News voted  Niecie Top 25 Women In Music.   Beginning  her journey in Detroit,  Niecie has tore up the music scene for over 3 decades. Niecie has shared the stage with the likes of Koko Taylor, Larry McCray, Magic Slim and the Teardrops, former Allman Brothers Johnny Neel, Outlaws guitar slinger Chris Anderson, blues rock sensations Anthony Gomes, Albert Castiglia and the legendary Shaun Murphy. A few of her notable performances include The Cancun Jazz Festival, Jackson BluesFest, Blues On the Hill, and SummerFest.  Compared to top entertainers Blues Blast Magazine dotes  “If you are an entertainer that is going to go by one name (like Sting, Cher or Bono), you had better have the talent to back it up, and Niecie passes this test easily.”

How Niecie fell into the blues is quite a story.  During a gig with a rock band while on tour in Lincoln Nebraska, Niecie stepped outside on set break. As fortune would have it, she didn’t know that her set had been overheard by none other than blues-man extraordinaire Magic Slim, who also happened to be on break from his gig at the Zoo Bar. Slim approached Niecie and said, “Girl, you need to sing the blues,” and invited her to join him on stage at the Zoo Bar. The rest, as they say, is history.
