Jazz & Blues Florida News Blog Passes ONE AND HALF MILLION Lifetime Views

If you hear people saying that jazz and blues are no longer relevant to the overall music scene and our culture, Jazz & Blues Florida just passed ONE AND HALF MILLION views of our news blog we started less than nine years ago! This is a pretty solid indicator that our music is still of interest! And the news blog is just one part of the platform we have implemented for getting information about the scene to those that want to know. A big THANK YOU in validation of my life for the past ten years to those that trusted in my business and supported it with their marketing and promotion dollars AND to ALL of YOU that came to see what a Florida Jazz & Blues Blog is about. Onward friends...see you somewhere the good music is happening!

Full Band show to KICK START Springtime

Playing venues from New England area,
southwest to Mississippi Delta, south to
New Orleans and east to the Piedmont region
and south again to Florida, spreading the
good news of Roots Blues, Electric Blues
and Americana.

Rich Brown has been fiddlin' around with a guitar since 1969. He now lives in Florida, surfs when he can and plays the Blues he loves. Anything is possible under tough circumstances, that is what made him who he is today. And now he's come up to loving to play this music that speaks to him. His music is rooted in the Blues.  He is playing and singing the music he loves.  Nearly every time he gigs, folks stop to listen because this music is a little different and grabs their attention. At some point at every gig he is asked "what is that stuff?" This stuff is where much of what we all listen to now sprang from, roots music some call it. People laugh crazy during one song and mellow down during the next, then he'll play something raucous to bring them back up and smiling. That is the height of his enjoyment, seeing this music affect others like it has him. It's why he chases it, because it got in him, real deep. Much of what he plays comes from Delta, Piedmont and Country Blues, some from Chicago and some has become classic Americana.  W.C. Handy Award winners Paul Rishell and Annie Raines (www.paulandannie.com/mojorodeo/) introduced him to the music of Blind Boy Fuller, Blind Lemon Jefferson, Tommy Johnson, Robert Johnson, Scrapper Blackwell, Barbecue Bob, the list goes on. When he plays, he tells his story with these influences present. Some call it Folk Blues because it's what the 'folks" play. This is the real thing.  Rich keeps that vibe rolling on.

Patti LaBelle, World Renowned R&B and Soul Singer, in Concert in Ft. Myers Feb 11, 2019

PATTI LABELLE
IN CONCERT IN FORT MYERS
at
Barbara B. Mann
Performing Arts Hall
at FSW!

Patti LaBelle to perform at Barbara B. Mann Performing Arts Hall at FSW on Monday, February 11 at 7:30PM. Tickets are on sale at the Box Office, online at www.bbmannpah.com or call 239-481-4849. The Fort Myers concert is part of the Bank of America Variety Series.

LaBelle began her career in the early 1960s as lead singer and front woman of the vocal group, Patti LaBelle and the Bluebelles. Following the group's name change to Labelle in the early 1970s, they released the iconic disco song "Lady Marmalade" and the group later became the first African-American vocal group to land the cover of Rolling Stone magazine.

After the group split in 1976, LaBelle began a successful solo career, starting with her critically acclaimed debut album, which included the career-defining song, "You Are My Friend". LaBelle became a mainstream solo star in 1984 following the success of the singles, "If Only You Knew", "New Attitude" and "Stir It Up", with the latter two crossing over to pop audiences and becoming radio staples. Less than two years later, in 1986, LaBelle scored with the number-one album, Winner in You and the number-one duet single, "On My Own", with Michael McDonald. LaBelle eventually won a 1992 Grammy for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance for her 1991 album, Burnin', followed by a second Grammy win for the live album, Live! One Night Only.

Her 1990s albums, Burnin', Gems (1994) and Flame (1997), continued her popularity with young R&B audiences throughout the decade. Following the release of two mildly receptive solo albums in the early new millennium, she reunited with her Labelle band mates for the album, Back to Now, followed by a briefly well received promotional tour. LaBelle's success has extended as an actress with a notable role in the film, A Soldier's Story, and in TV shows such as A Different World and American Horror Story: Freak Show. In 1992, LaBelle starred in her own TV sitcom, Out All Night. A decade later, LaBelle hosted her own lifestyle TV show, Living It Up with Patti LaBelle on TV One. In 2015, LaBelle took part in the dance competition, Dancing with the Stars.

In a career that has spanned fifty years, she has sold more than 50 million records worldwide. LaBelle has been inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame, the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and the Apollo Theater Hall of Fame. In 2005, the World Music Awards recognized her years in the music business by awarding her the Legend Award. LaBelle was included in Rolling Stone on their list of 100 Greatest Singers. LaBelle is commonly identified as the "Godmother of Soul". LaBelle is a dramatic soprano and is noted for her vocal power, range and emotive delivery. She also has a cake named "Patti LaBelle's Fancy Cake".
