Watermelon Slim
Friday starts with a Canadian duo that lit up the stage at the 2015 IBC.  The Vaudevillian takes one back to the 1920s, complete with carzoobamaphone.  Next up is the 2015 IBC second place band, and Gibson Guitar Award winner Noah Wotherspoon, who’s incendiary playing and strong voice will keep the day rolling.  As afternoon turns to evening, Watermelon Slim and the Workers will make a rare Florida appearance, infusing the blues with their rare Okie twang.  Kenny Neal’s swamp blues will have the crowd out of their seats as the sun is setting.  Finally, everyone will witness why Janiva Magness has 7 Blues Music Awards on her mantel.

Nikki Hill

Saturday begins with Randy McQuay, the 2015 IBC solo/duo winner.  Randy is followed by Connecticut’s number 1 blues band, and IBC sensations, the Balkun Brothers.  And there is even more IBC goodness coming when 2015 band winner Eddie Cotton, Jr. and his band take the stage.  Everyone should make certain they have their food and beverage needs met before amazing guitarist Jarekus Singleton begins his set.  Anyone who hasn’t seen Nikki Hill needs to prepare for the evening’s ‘whiplash moment.’  Closing this unbeatable day of music is the legendary Sonny Landreth with his totally unique slide guitar style.  And as an added bonus, there will be a craft beer tasting from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm, with 3 tastes included with your paid admission.

Alexis P. Suter
The festival closes on a high note, beginning with 2015 IBC second place solo/duo performer Brian Keith Wallen.  Next, Moreland & Arbuckle return to Daytona Beach with their haunting, roots based sound.  Another returning act is the Alexis P Suter Band, perfect on a Sunday afternoon as there is no one better to take the audience to the church of the blues.  Of course Paul Thorn is also no stranger to church, and his Sunday evening set will be infused with his positive spirit.  Tradition continues, as Victor Wainwright & the WildRoots once again close the festival with a large dose of honky-tonk and boogie.

The Vaudevillian
A new feature this year is the Riverfront Stage presenting acts between sets on the main stage.  On Friday, Kids Rock the Nation star Dylan Salfer will perform twice.  On Saturday and Sunday, there will be a revolving line up of The Vaudevillian, Little Eddie and a shared set by HBCU recording artists Tharell Roberts and L. Paul Jackson

Gracie Curran & The High Falutin’ Band
That might be enough, but it’s not all.  Thursday, October 8, at 8:00 pm, Gracie Curran & The High Falutin’ Band will host a free welcome party at Bahama Breeze Island Grille.  Bahama Breeze will also be the site of DBF’s historic after parties, hosted by Gracie on Friday night, and The Bridget Kelly Band on Saturday and Sunday.  As always, no one can predict who might show up to jam!

Victor, Kenny, Slim & Rev Billy
This year, the Daytona Blues Festival will once again host two days of workshops.  On Wednesday, October 7, The Mike Curb Institute at Bethune-Cookman University will present 3 workshops on The Business of Music.  On Thursday, October 8, DBF will present Victor Wainwright’s Blues Music Workshops, featuring Watermelon Slim, Kenny Neal and, of course, Victor Wainwright.  Attendance is free for ticket holders, but seating is limited and reservations must be made.

Finally, but most important to us, we have donated over $100,000 to local women and children’s health services since our inception.  We are an entirely volunteer run 501(c)(3) organization, with all proceeds going to our designated charities.  This year our charities are once again the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Halifax Health, and Project WARM at The Vince Carter Sanctuary.

So come to the Daytona Blues Festival.  Attend a workshop, catch the welcome party, buy a t-shirt, taste some craft beer, enjoy the Riverfront stage between sets while buying something to eat or drink, and listen to the best blues music at the nicest time of year.  Have a great time while supporting very worthy local health care needs.
