Scholarship Competition for High School and College Students Throughout South Florida Announced!

Win a Full Scholarship to Litchfield Jazz Camp

and New York Jazz Symposium!

High School and College students throughout South Florida are now eligible to win a full music scholarship to the annual Litchfield Jazz Camp & Festival, in Connecticut and New York Jazz Symposium, in Utah.

Scholarship recipients will have the opportunity to attend the annual Litchfield Jazz Camp, in Connecticut, and the NEW YORK JAZZ SYMPOSIUM at Snow College, where they will be taught by some of the world’s most respected educators from the Juilliard School, Berklee College of Music, Brooklyn College, Michigan State University, Long Island University, and Snow College, Utah.

The scholarship winners will receive the following:

·         Round trip airfare from Miami to Connecticut or Salt Lake City, Utah

·         Transfers to and from the airport

·         Tuition and supplies

·         Room and board

·         College credit (Students attending NYJS)

·         Camp or Symposium t-shirt

·         WDNA merchandise (Jazz CDs, clothing, etc.)

·         Cash award from the Mel Shifke Scholarship Fund at WDNA

·         Opportunity to perform at 2015 Litchfield Jazz Festival (Students attending LJC)

Contest Methodology

All high school and college students, 13-years and older, are eligible to win the scholarships!

Students should tune into WDNA 88.9FM, weekdays from 3:00pm – 7:00pm, March 30 – April 10, 2015.

Call the contest line at 305-444-7889 when asked by the on-air host (DJ) to do so.

Up to eight (10) lucky callers each weekday will receive an invitation to audition, as well as free WDNA merchandise.  Students who are invited to audition will receive all the required contest details in advance.

Two preliminary auditions will be held:

Saturday, April 11, 4:00pm, at the WDNA Jazz Gallery – 2921 Coral Way, Miami  

Sunday, April 12, 4:00pm, at The Fish House – 10000 Miller Drive, Miami

Four (5) finalists will be selected from each of the two preliminary auditions by a panel of jazz experts. The final playoff among the ten (10) finalists will be held Friday, April 17th, in the WDNA Jazz Gallery.
