Scholarship recipients will have the opportunity to attend the annual Litchfield Jazz Camp, in Connecticut, and the NEW YORK JAZZ SYMPOSIUM at Snow College, where they will be taught by some of the world’s most respected educators from the Juilliard School, Berklee College of Music, Brooklyn College, Michigan State University, Long Island University, and Snow College, Utah.
The scholarship winner will receive the following:
- Round trip airfare from Miami to Connecticut or Salt Lake City, Utah
- Transfers to and from the airport
- Tuition
- Room and board
- College credit (Students attending NYJS)
- Camp or Symposium t-shirt
- WDNA merchandise (Jazz CDs, clothing, etc.)
- Cash award from the Mel Shifke Music Scholarship Fund at WDNA
- Opportunity to perform at 2014 Litchfield Jazz Festival (Students attending LJC)
The final playoff among the eight finalists will be held Saturday, May 3th, in the WDNA Jazz Gallery.
Renee Georgio-Rios' son, Sebastian Dean Rios, is one of the finalists today.
