UPCOMING TICKETED PERFORMANCES

April 28 & 29 at 7 p.m. & 9 p.m. TICKETS

Mindi Abair

One of the most recognizable saxophonists in the US, Mindi Abair has sold a half million records as a solo artist, but you probably know her as the featured saxophonist on American Idol for the 2011 and 2012 seasons.

Over the past 2 years she has toured the US with Aerosmith as their only saxophonist since 1973, sat in for a night with Bruce Springsteen at the famed Beacon Theater and even taken the saxophone chair over for 2 shows with Paul Shaffer and the Late Show with David Letterman.

As a solo artist, she has carved out her own brand as the rocker of the jazz world, and she adds a refreshingly unique voice to an exciting new generation of crossover artists. Her solo career has produced 10 #1 radio singles and 6 major label solo releases that have topped the Contemporary Jazz Charts, “It Just Happens That Way” (2003), “Come As You Are” (2004), “Life Less Ordinary” (2006), “Stars” (2008), and “In Hi Fi Stereo” (2010), “Summer Horns” with Dave Koz, Gerald Albright and Richard Elliot (2013)

May 6 & 7 at 7 p.m. & 9 p.m. TICKETS

Paul Taylor

In the 19 years since saxophonist Paul Taylor first got On The Horn with his hit debut album, he’s enjoyed an extraordinary journey in the contemporary urban jazz world.  The key to the charismatic saxophonist’s success?  Beyond those instantly identifiable sax tones, infectious melodies, cutting edge production, and dynamic live performances, it’s one thing: Tenacity - the perfect title for his latest recording on Peak Records/eOne (and 10th overall). Long a mainstay among the most popular and elite artists, Taylor has been on one of the most exhilarating upswings of his career over the past seven years, starting with Ladies’ Choice (2007), which marked his first ever #1 on the Billboard Contemporary Jazz. “Burnin’,” the title track from his 2009 album, hit #1 on the airplay charts, and “Push To Start” from Prime Time (2011), hit the pole position on the Smooth Jazz Songs chart. Prime Time further lived up to its colorful name by reaching the Top Ten on the Billboard Jazz Albums chart. Over the past few years, Taylor has also been part of two of the genre’s biggest summer tours, Gentlemen of the Night (with Marion Meadows and Warren Hill) and Sax and the City (with Meadows and Vincent Ingala). In December 2012, the longtime basketball enthusiast achieved another longtime dream, performing the National Anthem in Madison Square Garden at a New York Knicks game; whose coach is a longtime fan. With the 20th anniversary of his recording debut coming up next year, Taylor remains a fresh and vital, forward thinking force in contemporary urban jazz.

Tickets are $35 General Admission,
$55 Premium and $75 VIP.

During JAZZIZ’s first year, stunning jazz vocalist Nicole Henry has become one of the most in demand and regular performers on the JAZZIZ Nightlife stage.  Due to her tremendous popularity, this performance marks the beginning of a once a month residency exclusively at JAZZIZ.  Since her debut in 2004, she has established herself as one of the jazz world's most acclaimed vocalists, possessing a potent combination of dynamic vocal abilities, impeccable phrasing, and powerful emotional resonance.  Her passionate, soulful voice and heart-felt charisma has earned her a 2013 Soul Train Award for “Best Traditional Jazz Performance," three Top-10 U.S. Billboard and HMV Japan jazz albums. Heralded by The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, The Japan Times, El Pais, Essence and more, Ms. Henry tells real stories through repertoire from the American Songbook, classic and contemporary jazz, contemporary standards, blues and originals.

$45 Premium; and $65 VIP.

May 20 & 21 at 7:30 p.m. TICKETS

David Sanborn

Returning again to JAZZIZ is legendary saxophonist David Sanborn, who with 24 albums, six Grammy Awards, eight Gold albums, and one Platinum album is considered one of the most influential saxophonists of our time.  He is especially known for his passionate sound and emotional interpretations of melodies and unlike his countless number of imitators, is immediately recognizable within two notes. While growing up in St. Louis, Sanborn played with many Chicago blues greats (including Albert King) and became a skilled alto saxophonist despite battling polio in his youth. After important stints with Paul Butterfield, Gil Evans, Stevie Wonder, David Bowie, and the Brecker Brothers, Sanborn began recording as a leader in the mid-’70s and racked up a string of pop successes. In the early ’90s, Sanborn was the host of the syndicated television series “Night Music” which had a very eclectic lineup of musicians (from Sonny Rollins and Sun Ra to James Taylor). Additionally, he has regularly hosted the “After New Year’s Eve” TV special on ABC and hosted his own syndicated radio program, “The Jazz Show with David Sanborn.” He continues to be one of the most highly active musicians of his genre and is an artist who pushes the limits and continues to make music that challenges the mind and goes “Straight to The Heart.”

Tickets are $60 General Admission,
$100 Premium and $150 VIP.
