On Wednesday, March 6, Allan Harris, world-class singer and Gibson guitar artist, will perform for the Gold Coast Jazz Society’s 21st Anniversary Jazz Concert Series in a program with his quintet featuring the music of the legendary Nat King Cole.  This concert, “Long Live the King: Allan Harris Sings Nat King Cole,” will occur at the Broward Center’s Amaturo Theater, 201 SW 5th Avenue in Fort Lauderdale.  Single tickets are $40 per person and tickets for students and teachers are only $10 with ID.  To purchase tickets, contact the Broward Center’s AutoNation Box Office at 954-462-0222 or online at www.browardcenter.org or www.goldcoastjazz.org.

Nat King Cole left a permanent mark on the jazz world with his impeccable style and velvety smooth voice. With a similar vocal quality to the legendary Nat King Cole, Harris brings his own special style and interpretation to the Cole Songbook. A former fixture on the Miami jazz scene Harris now makes his home in New York City area.   He is a three-time winner of the New York Nightlife Award for "Outstanding Jazz Vocalist” and is Tony Bennett’s "favorite singer."  Harris has cultivated a global following and has played for packed audiences throughout the United States, Europe, Russia and the Far East.  He is regularly featured at the world’s great music festivals, including Jazz Aspen, the Wien Jazz Festival in Austria and the Umbria Jazz Festival in Italy.

In addition to his jazz performances, Harris has composed a full-scale musical, “Cross That River”, which celebrates the Old West as told through the words and music of a black cowboy. “Cross That River” received a grant from Chamber Music America and played to rave reviews during the 2009 New York Musical Theater Festival.

Joining Harris for the March 6  jazz performance are his sidemen, Pascal LeBoeuf on piano, Peter Kronreif on drums, Leon Boykins on bass and Jesse Jones, Jr. on sax.  For more information about this artist, visit his website at www.allanharris.com
