Also on the bill will be Little Mike and the Tornadoes and
Gainesville favorites Root Redemption.  Two members
of Root Redemption, singer/guitarist Alan Yeatter and
harmonica player Gus Olmos, will represent the region
solo/duo category.

The Downtown Blues Concert is a free show held
annually at the
Bo Diddley Community Plaza
( 111 E. University Avenue) in downtown Gainesville

Louisiana native Kenny Neal has won two Blues Music Awards
and was nominated for a Grammy, and is known for his soulful
 singing and excellent guitar and harmonica playing. 

Little Mike and the Tornadoes have been called this generation’s
closest thing to the original Chess Records sound. Little Mike
 has played with such blues heavyweights as
Hubert Sumlin, Pinetop Perkins, and Big Walter Jacobs.

The beautiful Bo Diddley Community Plaza is located at


111 E. University Avenue
on the corner of
SE 1st Street
and
E. University Avenue
in the heart of Historic Gainesville.
. It was renamed in 2008, after the death of a local
treasure - legendary rock & roll singer, guitarist and
songwriter, Bo Diddley.
Organization  organized to preserve, cultivate, nurture and
promote the blues in the Gainesville area, and is funded in
part by the Alachua County Tourist Development Tax.
