Diva JC names any ensemble of musicians "Jazz Hotline" because the music swings and it's always HOT! Her most famous Blues songs are "I Don’t Want Nobody's Husband", "OH, Baby!"  and "Treat Me Right And You Don't Have To Marry Me".

Joan's books, AMAZING MUSICWOMEN and SO, YOU WANT TO BE A SINGER?  The Business of Music are lectures that she's given to thousands of children and college students, in U.S., Switzerland, Sicily, China and Japan. Her interactive workshops are dynamic and educational, highlighting the pitfalls and benefits of the music business. She contends that, "Knowing music theory is a step in the right direction for any singer who truly wants to excel in the world of music!"

Joan is a composer and her memoir, IN PURSUIT OF A MELODY contains 40 original songs and lyrics to standards - "A Night in Tunisia " by Dizzy Gillespie, "Blue Bossa" by Kenny Dorham, "Tune Up" by Miles Davis and "Bessie's Blues" by John Coltrane. Her composition, "Sweet Return" was recorded by Freddie Hubbard and the Kool Jazz All-Stars of 1983, on Atlantic Records. In 2011, Joan submitted the Joan Cartwright Song Book to the Guinness Book of Records as the first woman in the world with a jazz and blues song book. Through her company FYI Communications, Inc., she published eight other books on music and poetry on http://www.lulu.com/. On November 21, 2011, the Parkway Middle School Jazz Band and Vocal Ensemble will perform a suite of Joan’s songs at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, funded by her fourth SEAS grant from Broward Schools, since 1997.
