South Florida Blues Society Announces Winner of International Blues Challenge Local Competition

The competition was held at B.B. Kings in West Palm Beach, Florida today, September 18, 2011.

The top placing bands are:

1st -  Blues Dragon
2nd - Bobby and the Renegades
3rd - King muDDfish

The winning band will  represent the South Florida Blues Society at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, held Jan. 31 to Feb. 4, 2012.

Blues Dragon issued the following statement after the competition:
"To everyone involved in the IBC competition today. We would like to thank you all for your hard work and dedication for putting this together. There were a lot of great musicians and great bands who performed today. We are very humbled to have been chosen to represent South Florida at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis in February. The South Florida Blues Society has a great reputation in Memphis for delivering great talent. We will our best to continue this tradition. THANK YOU ALL"

The competition included these bands:
  • Amy Arlo & Almost Blue
  • Beverly Lewis & The Mixx
  • The Bird Dog Bobby Band
  • Blues Dragon
  • Bobby & The Renegades
  • J.C. Crossfire
  • Joel Dasilva & The Midnight Howl
  • King muDDfish
  • Lowdown 13
  • Marty Stokes & The Captiva Band
  • The Nightcasters
  • Soulshine
Judges for the were Chrystal Hartigan, Beautiful Bobby Blackmon, Tom from Suncoast Blues Society, Joe Fodera, Judy Blem, and Donny.
There was not a competition held for the solo/duo category.
