"Popular former WLRN jazz DJ Tracy Fields has been named host of the public radio station's weeknight jazz broadcast, replacing longtime jazz jock Len Pace, according to Peter J. Maerz, the station's programming and operations manager.

A few weeks ago, the prospects for local jazz programming on WLRN (91.3-FM) seemed grim. In a mass e-mail, part-time jazz host Bob "Bebob" Grabowski said he expected the station to significantly cut its decades-long commitment to locally generated jazz broadcasts. The move was expected to coincide with the retirement of Pace, whose last show airs Feb. 26."
