Americana Woman Music Fest in Tallahassee FL March 19 & 20, 2010

#JazzBluesFlorida #jazz #blues #Florida #Concerts #Festivals #Clubs

The first annual Tallahassee Americana Woman Music Fest will be held March 19th and 20th. Nine acts from around the Southeast will be performing on three stages during this celebration of women artists in Americana music. All acts are either headlined by women, or the majority of the players in the band are women.

Americana music comes from the traditions of roots music in the United States. Its breadth and reach includes artists like Gram Parsons and Bob Dylan, Wilco and The Avett Brothers, Lucinda Williams and Emmylou Harris, Lyle Lovett and The Band. The Americana sound is decidedly different than the more pop oriented radio formats of rock and contemporary country. A Grammy Award was presented in the Americana category for the first time this year, with Levon Helm winning the award.

The festival is comprised of three staged events over two days.

  • Friday Night, March 19, 7:00pm, at the American Legion Hall on Lake Ella. Five acts performing.

  • Saturday Day, March 20, 1:30 pm, at Bird’s Oyster on Bronough St. Girl’s and Guitars. Individual artists playing original music with their guitars in an in-the-round format.

  • Saturday Night, March 20, 7:00pm, at the American Legion. Five Acts performing.

A wristband for entry into all three events may be purchased for $15 at the venues, or
in advance at Gordon’s String Music or The Music Center.
