Gold Coast Jazz Society Presents Terry Myers Orchestra in Tribute Concert

Fort Lauderdale, FL – 2009 marked the centennial of the legendary big band leader and clarinetist, Benny Goodman. To keep the celebration going, the Gold Coast Jazz Society will present the Terry Myers Orchestra in a “Tribute to Benny Goodman” on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at Amaturo Theater at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, 201 SW 5th Ave, Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The jazz show begins at 7:45 pm. Single tickets are $35 and $40 and student tickets are $12. Purchase tickets through the Broward Center Box Office at 954-462-0222 or online at http://www.goldcoastjazz.org/ or http://www.browardcenter.org/.

A pre-concert Jazz Riff jazz talk will be given by radio personality Stu Grant at 7:00pm in the theater before the show. If you love the music of the swing and big band era, this is a show not to miss.

Hailed as the "Patriarch of the Clarinet", Goodman’s bands changed the course of American popular music. His legendary Carnegie Hall concert was described by critic Bruce Eder as "the single most important jazz or popular music concert in history: jazz's 'coming out' party to the world of 'respectable' music."
Clarinetist, Terry Myers will make the music of the Goodman years come alive again in this special tribute to this legendary musician. Terry’s, dynamic career has enabled him to appear with such talented players as Tommy Dorsey Orchestra (Buddy Morrow), Bob Haggert, Milt Hinton, Butch Miles, Warren Vache', Kenny Davern, Marty Grosz, Major Holly, Mousey Alexander, Flip Phillips, Walt Lavinsky, Bill Allred, John Allred, Wild Bill Davison, Chubby Jackson, Duffy Jackson, Rosemary Clooney, Eddie Higgins, Bobby Rosengarten, Larry Elgart, Vince Giordano, and a host of others. He now leads the Terry Myers Orchestra, a big band located in central Florida.

The Gold Coast Jazz Society is a not-for-profit organization that is dedicated to the preservation and promotion of jazz music through a mainstage concert series, free community concerts, jazz education programs and other events.
