Phrasing In Brazilian Music - You will want to attend this!

The Antonio Adolfo School of Music was inaugurated two years ago in downtown Hollywood. In that time, Antonio has created a curriculum consisting not only of music classwork, but also master classes, clinics, workshops, and panel discussions. Participants have included musicians and educators from the community and beyond, such as Prof. Shelton Berg, Dean of the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami and also an acclaimed jazz pianist; master saxophonist Prof. Gary Campbell of Florida International University; guitarist Paulo Jobim and pianist Daniel Jobim, the son and grandson respectively of Antonio Carlos Jobim; bassist Arthur Maia, vocalist Rose Max, guitarist Ramatis Moraes, pianist-educator Zezo Olimpio, percussionist Sammy Figueroa, the legendary jazz multi-instrumentalist, Ira Sullivan, Uruguayan violinist and Grammy-Awardee Federico Britos, the Brazilian instrumental group, Clube do Choro, and many others.

Now, the South Florida community has the opportunity to see Antonio Adolfo, the noted pianist-composer-arranger-educator, present a clinic at his school focusing on one of his passions:

Phrasing In Brazilian Music (and what makes that difference!)

Antonio Adolfo, the maestro, will demonstrate how authentic musical elements can influence phrasing; particularly how specific rhythmic accents, harmony, melodic lines, and ornaments influence Brazilian phrasing. All attendees are welcome to bring their instruments to play (or sing) along with the examples presented. The school provides basic backline, including piano, drumset, electric bass and guitar amps, percussion instruments, and microphones.

While the two-hour clinic is structured for music students and professionals, anyone with even a casual interest in the topic is welcome to attend and participate.

Date: September 21st (Monday)
Time: 7:30 PM
Admission: $15 (please call or email to RSVP)
