Bebob spreads his jazz vibe around

If you're hearing these affirming words, chances are you're up too late on a Monday night and tuned to WLRN-FM's Evenin' Jazz. The show's host, Bob ''Bebob'' Grabowski, has been signing off with this mellifluous mantra throughout his broadcast career, which has included a drive-time show on WDNA-FM and a six-year, red-eye shift on WTMI-FM.

For a little more than a year now, Grabowski has been haunting the near-empty corridors of WLRN's downtown Miami studios on Monday nights from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m., but his influence on the local jazz scene extends far beyond the glow of the radio dial.

As an A-list bass player, he has shared stages with South Florida's jazz elite. Ira Sullivan, Jesse Jones Jr., Melton Mustafa and Dr. Lonnie Smith are but a few of the area's top practitioners who have called upon Grabowski's rich tone and fluency on the upright acoustic...."
